Default Rename file from media explorer ?

Hi there, I love the media explorer and have some folders for processed samples that I drop there for reuse while working on tracks.

But since the filename is usually something like:

SARON1 4C render 002.wav + H.CY.PT 1C render 001-glued render 002

I want to rename it so I can find it back later but it's not really easy:

1. Use windows explorer: have to make sure the file is not loaded in the playback or... fail
2. Use media explorer: would be great because Reaper knows about peak files and the playback thing and we could just rename, keeping auto play. Like hit F2 in media browser, enter a name, and done.

I guess saving bits and pieces of processed audio is a very common pattern and I must be doing something wrong...

Any help greatly welcome :-)

Try the project bay, "source files" tab.

You can rename them while REAPER has them loaded in a project and it will also update its use reference to their new names...

@planetnine thanks, this is a good option, I will try to rename files before dragging them outside the project (with ctrl+alt drag).
