Default Windows 10; password problems..[solved]

Hi all, I've got a duel boot system with both windows 7 & 10. I use win-7 all the time, but recently wanted to check
something out in win-10. However, I can't remember my password and haven't figured out how to get past it.

I did a search on google and ended up going to a Microsoft link. However, they wanted my whole life and when
they got to the credit card, I stopped there. Heh heh, they are literally holding my computer for ransom.

Seriously, there's got to be a simple way to do this, with out jumping through these kind of hoops, and I'm sure
there are a lot of Reaper folks who probably know the answer?

Oops, never mind, I managed to exhume my old password. However, they said it had expired.

Anyway, to make a long story short, I created a new password and now I'm back in.

Sorry about that.

Like 90% of sites supposedly telling you how to recover Windows from forgotten password the above link seems to be another one that leads you to buy software to enable your reset.

Here's one that isn't trying to sell you anything.

Note that the recovery of a local account is not a particularly simple operation....so your best option is to work out how not to forget the password
