Default Save error (SOLVED)

Help! I use Reaper primarily for Voice Over work - [retty straight forward maybe a couple tracks - I'm in / out and done my project and on to the next. Yesterday and today specifically I'm receiving an error when trying to save my project and it's slowing me down. Attached is a screen shot.

What am I doing wrong? Is this a glitch? Do I need to change something in Preferences?

Pop up screen:
REAPER Error

Cannot overwrite file:
c:\users\dav_t\dropbox\1-Reaper Projects\UntieNots\UntieNots.rpp

Your changes have been temporarily saved as:
c:\users\dav_t\dropbox\1-Reaper Projects\UntieNots\UntieNots.rpp-NEWTEMP

Most likely, the dropbox folder hold the file during synchronization, so Riper can not overwrite it. Just save to another directory or temporarily turn off the synchronization of the dropbox

Just wanted to say thanks for posting this! I was going crazy trying to figure out if my hard drive was dying or some other catastrophic problem, but it turns out Dropbox was just interfering. My hard drive is almost full so I started being picky about what folders Dropbox would sync, and apparently that takes a lot more resources than just syncing everything. So now I just disable Dropbox, do my recording, fire up Dropbox again and everything is fine.

Anyway, thanks for the tip!

Even though this is an older thread, I'm adding my thanks as well.

One of those "obvious once it is pointed out to you" solutions but just the same, I was racking my brain to no avail. No more unnecessary incremental saving!

Same here. Dropbox was the culprit! Turning Dropbox off during the session fixed the issue. Thanks, guys!

Same issue here. I assumed it was a Dropbox thing, but this only started happening recently.

Thanks, Matt

Default What do you do if you have to turn off dropbox while recording?

My files are routed to save in dropbox. If I have to quit dropbox, my files that I record while I don't have dropbox open are just saving to my computer's hard drive. I don't like how vulnerable that leaves me. God forbid, my computer crashes after I've been in an hour long recording session. It is also kind of annoying to have to manually remember to re-start dropbox here and there to make sure my new files I have generated automatically sync up.

What have you guys who also use dropbox done in this situation to make sure your work is protected?

Thanks!
