I've used both. They're both great!

I humbly suggest you download and try both. It's all free, and you can get a feel for each. A picture is worth a thousand words, and trying a theme is better than pictures.

When I test theme I open a project with lots of tracks, and try to do some type of edit on a track. I quickly get an initial impression of how easy or difficult it is to see what's happening.

There have been themes where the screenshots look cool, but that cool look does not help me see what's happening in the project.

HTH,
Thanks for the suggestion. I have downloaded both, and they both look great . . . as far as I can tell (terrible eye infection for the past two weeks and everything is blurry). I didn't mean for my post to ramble on. I just wanted to know what significant changes were made to the original. I'm sure the changes are subtle and tasteful . . . just not sure what they are. I guess I thought asking for be faster than waiting for my eyes to heal. ;-)

Yes, that v3 link is to the latest version

It's been 3 years since I worked on it, so I don't remember everything that was done.
You'll need to download the original Imperial from White Tie and compare the 2 to see all the differences.
The changes are mostly in the MCP.
Changes to the TCP were minimal, IIRC.

TCP: the most noticeable changes are:
- Folder indent
- Color Fader layouts
- blank or spacer layout.
- Red Fader layout for the Master TCP

MCP: the most noticeable changes are:
- restructuring of the default and other MCP layouts
- Color Fader layouts
- blank or spacer layouts.
- Red Fader layout for the Master MCP

there's more, but that's what I see on a quick glance.
If you want the 'Lit up' style labels on the TCP to match the ones on the MCP, there's a link to the add-on mod for it in the first post of this thread.

Thanks, Lucas. It looks great, and I'm happy to know where the changes are. Much appreciated. Tzai

BTW, the 'Lit up' style labels on the MCP look *awesome*.

Thank you, LCS!

Hey Lucas, I'm wondering if there is anything we need to keep in mind with v7 of Reaper if we are using the v3 dark mode? I love this theme so so so much!

Lucas, this is such a gorgeous theme. I would hope you could see fit to someday bring it up into Reaper 7.

@ bBeeej21:
The theme should work the same as it always has.
The only difference with v7 is that I would suggest using the Visual Track Spacers that are built into Reaper 7 instead of the separator layouts included in the theme.

Visual Track Spacers:
These are not tracks and no setup is required to keep them from creating problems.
Theme Separator Layouts:
These require some set up before use, but unfortunately still allow you to add or move tracks to them in the arrange view.

@ Rodulf:
I appreciate your interest, but the answer is no.
Any Reaper 7 feature should be available to any older theme.
Specific things related to the Default 7 theme (Theme Adjuster) are not.
If you are asking to have the 150% and 200% layouts and images added, I have no interest in doing that.

Didn't know about the TCP label mod. Thanks for all your hard work Lucas.

Thank you, Lucas, for your reply. I'm not sure I follow what you're saying. Is there something I need to do in particular in order to still use your theme but use the Reaper 7 Visual Track Spacers? I'm not familiar with where to go to do any edits or modding. Thank you again.

No edits are needed to use the Reaper 7 built-in Visual Spacers.

Right click on a track/channel in the MCP or the TCP and the Visual Spacers entry should be listed at the top.
Highlight or click on it and make your selection from the menu.
It should add the spacer to both the TCP and MCP.
You can move them with your mouse if needed.

Check out Kenny's video, the Reaper Blog or the official Reaper Guide for better details.
