Default Is there a way to have metronome without the wavemap on

I am trying to use reaper as a midi only sequencer. It has no latency when the dummy soundcard is active but No metronome when I do that. When I select the wave out, there is too much latency. When I reduce the buffer size, the tempo slows to a crawl.
Even if its the PC beeper speaker keeping time that would be great.

I used Opcode Vision up until this year. That program was really slick but I cant count on 25 year old computers anymore.
Thanks

ASIO4ALL?

reaper works sooooo much better with a real audio interface compared to the built in crap that computers come with.

I'm sure it does, however the Win10 computer will not be used to record audio, it'll just handle midi. Hopefully.

Never mind, I downloaded Cubase trial and it works great, almost like Vision. Its not exactly the same but shows much promise

Glad Cubase is working for you. However, yes... Asio4all.com is a better option all around, even for exclusive midi use. The latency is non-existent. Any buffer size 256 or below is pretty great, to my ears.

Hope you come back to Reaper!
