Lucas - I've been using your Imperial mod for quite a while - love it.

I finally got around to checking the blue version of this one out. After a few hours with it this is my new favorite.

Thanks for doing this one. I really like the subdued, but not too dark colors.

Is there a way to remove the TCP meters without learning Walter? I always use a console over arrange window arrangement, so the TCP meters are redundant in my use. Not a big deal though.

Excellent theme!

Thanks! I actually made it on a whim when I was first making this theme and it quickly became my default.
I love Imperial, but after working with it so much while I was modding it, I realized it was causing me too much eye fatigue.

Did you install the Bright Pack?
I have been using it lately and am at the point of just merging it with the actually theme.

Unfortunately, no.
They are pretty small, though, unless you expand left or down.

It's actually fairly simple to remove the meter.
Just back up the RTCONFIG.txt file in the image folder and then find and comment out any line that says:
SET TCP.METER
example:
;SET TCP.METER

note the ';' in front of SET. That tells reaper to ignore this line.
It should remove the meter from the TCP layout you modify.
see my notes to ReaperMadness about modifying the RTCONFIG in the Imperial_LCS thread for more details about finding layouts.

I may eventually do another TCP layout to mimic one in Reaborn, Rado or Reaction (dark) that I use ocassionally.
I'll try to remember to make version without the meter if you still need it, but it will be a while before that happens.

@BobF

The should be hidden if you slide the track view to the left enough on the default TCP panel.

I just discovered this today.

ALT+ENTER should open the Project Settings window, if not then:
Click on 'File' in the menu bar at the top of Reaper.
select 'Project Settings'
when the Project Settings window opens:
click on the 'Advanced' tab.
Click on the 'Pan Mode' drop down menu and select the default mode you want.
Then click on the 'Save as default project settings' button on the bottom to keep the setting for all future projects.

this automatically sets the mode on any new track you add.
If all your current tracks are set to the default, it should update them to the new default. That's the behavior I saw.

I will give it a shot! And apologies for not responding to your last comment. Buried a bit, but decided to come up for air this evening. Now back to the trenches!

Fatigue is the difference. Funny thing is I didn't really notice until I tried LCS Solaris and then switched back

I have no idea what a Bright Pack is ... I'll see if I can unskulk it

I'll try the slide over trick on the TCP. It really is minor

Bright Pack rocks, Lucas. Thanks!

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

This is easily my favorite Reaper theme.

Hi Lucas!

First of all, wonderful theme. Absolutely stunning and great to work with as well. Makes Reaper looks great whilst at the same time not losing focus on workflow. A fine achievement sir!

I have one request, though. As I'm working with lots of orchestral VI's, in order to identify which is which, I struggle to shorten my track names so that they would fit. Could it be possible to make a layout that includes a longer space for names? This would make your theme perfect for me!

Anyways, feel free to whatever you feel with the theme, it is yours after all. If it isn't possible, or you simply don't want to, then that's totally fine.

Good luck with the rest of your themes, they are wonderful!

In the TCP (track editor) or in the MCP (mixer).

in the TCP may be do-able, but I thought I had one there already.
in the mixer one the 'Spacer' layouts should have a vertical name space that is longer.

let me know. I 'll take a look when I have time, but not sure when that will be.

I meant in the TCP, yes. Wasn't clear about that, sorry for that.

Oh wait I see it now! Sorry, wasn't aware of this. The Spacer layout has a longer trackname.

However, and this is my only gripe; you have to expand the track to pretty large in order to see the FX and automation buttons.

This is doable but it is frustrating on orchestral projects with lots of tracks. It either means constantly scrolling or constantly resizing tracks.

If there would be a layout that has a meter at the bottom that can stretch to the right, showing more buttons along the way, that would be absolutely perfect. So instead of showing buttons by dragging downwards, showing buttons by stretching sideways.

Perhaps, as a suggestion, take the spacer layout, and make a strip the size of the name strip underneath with small versions of all the important buttons. That would mean minimal extra space usage and minimal dragging out the tracks to show the buttons. Perhaps then put the meter either underneath that or besides like the default Reaper layouts do.

Hope I've been a bit clearer. Still, thanks for all your hard work, it is truly appreciated!

both the Default layout and theSpacer layout do this.
Stretch either layout to the right, then move the bottom of the layout up just under the Mute, Solo and Phase buttons to see what I mean.

The Spacer layout pretty much does this already when adjusted to a certain height.
Please note that I'm unwilling to make new buttons at this point in time.
I'll look at making an alternate Spacer layout and/or a Narrow layout.
Do you need an expandable meter or a meter at all?

Hi Lucas,

for me, having a meter isn't important in the TCP. I have three screens and thus have the mixer open and visible at all times.

I am very grateful that you are willing to look into this. If you want a donation, please give me an adress to send it to, and I will gladly do so.

Thanks in advance!

Joost

*UPDATES: 07/24/2017
- fixed graphic issue with Pan knob background in the MCP.
- changed TCP Spacer layout to allow really long names and more controls when stretching to the right.
- added Alt TCP Spacer layout. works the same as normal one, but has FX, Byp and Env buttons before the Recarm, Recmode and
Recmon. Button spacing is a bit tighter as well.

Lucas, thank you very much for this! This will now be my default Reaper theme. This is exactly what this theme needed for me, and I guess others will love this as will.

Thanks for your hard work!

UPDATE! I was able to fix it on my own - not sure how it got messed up in the first place, but it's back somehow so call off the hounds!

So I have been a long time user of your Solaris LCS theme - tweaked it, love it for my workflow. Then I redownloaded the most recent updates (as it has been a while since I had checked) and I must have done something horribly wrong because this doesn't look anything like the theme I had been using. I've attached a screen cap to show you what I have now but something is very wrong, and I'm sure I messed up somewhere along the line...so help me fix this please!

Evidently most of the people who comment about Solaris ver. 2 have not compared it to ver. 1, this version has the same fader knobs and errors in the color changing the fader knobs. The record input and monitoring need improvement, it's easier to right click the VU Meter than use the little buttons above the record arm button.

These are all easy to make changes.

I've never seen V1. I was using LCS_Imperial prior to this.

Will you be making these easy changes?

I have made all the changes that I mention in my post to version 1.

Care to share a link? I would love to see it.

I just looked at all of your most recent posts. No thread subjects seemed obviously related to Solaris

@ thunderbroom, BobF and Jeranx:
Glad to hear you're enjoying the theme.

yes it's a bit fiddly, but the intent was on simply providing visual feedback since you can still access those settings by right clicking on the Recarm button or, as you mentioned, the VU Meter.
I do plan to expand the clickable area around the Monitor and Input Mode buttons to make easier to click them directly, but that will have to wait for now.

I believe he is referring to his previous post in this thread, not a post to the v.1 thread.
It would be more informative if he posted details about what he changed or how he fixed it.

thank you for making it available, but:

- please change the name to something like
Solaris_Blue_sickamorz_mod
So it people don't confuse it with an official release from me.

- please use the .zip compression so anyone can access it.
Not everyone uses 7zip and won't have access to 7zip files.
7zip can save to a normal zip file, but you have to select that option.

- please post a screenshot of your change on download page of your mod.
This allows people to decide quickly if they want or need the mod.
You only need a shot of the mod itself.
If you have Windows just hit the Print Screen key on your keyboard.
You can use Paint to crop it or size it down to modded area(s).

The first time I tried posting the theme, I got the message the theme was too big at 1.9 MB, so I went to the 7 zip format.
If there is another procedure to get it to work with microtrash zip app please let me know.
When I have time I will post a screenshot.

The targets are a bit easier to hit, but aesthetically they don't fit very well. With a more subdued choice of colors these controls would work well.

I honestly don't find the originals difficult though

the changes I did were designed for 10 to 12 inch screens, I use for field use.

you have to zip twice with the Ultra compression level to get it under the limit.
I ran the following steps and got your MOD down to 1.77MB and succesfully uploaded it to Stash.
I then removed it to avoid any confsion with your actual mod.

step 1:
select the image folder and the .ReaperTheme file
right click on them and select 7-Zip, then 'add to archive'

step 2:
confirm or change the name for the zip file, then select 'zip' as the archive format

step 3:
set the compression level to Ultra and click the OK button

step-04:
select the new zip file
right click on it, select 7-Zip, then 'add to archive'

step-05:
alter the name
I just added '-2nd' to note it's the 2nd zip
set the archive format to 'zip' and the compression method to 'Ultra'
click the OK button

.

I am still not clear on what you're saying here.
After looking at your screenshot and loading your MOD, I'm guessing you had an issue getting the different fader colors to load?
If that's the case, this is probably caused by using the theme in the following format:
Randomname.ReaperThemeZip
With the .ReaperThemeZip extension most of the sub-folders in the image folder can no longer be accessed.

The Blue and Gray themes are zipped twice.
Unzipping the second time leaves you with two items, the image folder and the actual theme file.
Both items need to be dropped into the ColorThemes folder as-is.
If you combine them into a single file with the .ReaperThemeZip extension most of the sub-folders in the image folder can no longer be accessed.
Unless you purposely changed the MCP_BG.PNG for some Spacer layouts, this is why they are missing the dark gray on the left side and why different fader color layouts didn't work for you.

UPDATE - Nov 2017:
TRANSPORT CHANGES
- changed layout to single layout with centered buttons.
- changed re-sizing behavior
- changed transport and repeat buttons (see screenshots).

[EDIT: removed old screenshots from the pre-v2.5 version]

Great theme but for some reason everything but the transport controls show up when I imported the new version.

I copied both folders to reaper/colorthemes

there's only 1 folder, so not sure what happened during your attempt.
Quick run down:
- download the file
- unzip it to temp folder
- unzip it again, you now have 1 folder and 1 file:
Solaris_LCS_Blue_v2 [folder]
Solaris_LCS_Blue_v2.ReaperTheme [file with -no- 'zip at the end]
copy these two items into your ColorThemes folder

.

Followed the process.

I usually keep the mixer in the docker on the bottom, below the arrange/edit section. The transport doesn't show in that config. When I moved the mixer to the left position the transport is fine.

I corrected the instructions above. Here is the corrected line:
Solaris_LCS_Blue_v2.ReaperTheme [file with -no- 'zip at the end]

I just tried it and it worked correctly. Did you possible click the 'X' on the Docker tab? That's the only way I could make it go away.
try setting the transport position to 'Bottom of Main Window'

Just realized it's because I have the mixer spread over two screens with the arrange view on top. When the transport is stretched out the controls get hidden.

Work around is to float the transport, problem solved.
