Default I can no longer render to mp3!

I remember having my fair share of trouble setting up MP3 in Reaper since it doesn't come with LAME. But whatever, it always worked out in the end.

But now (5.76), suddenly the option to render to mp3 disappeared. Maybe that has something to do with the path reference issue I had, but the weird thing is, Reaper usually had the mp3 option all along and it just warned you that LAME was missing and it couldn't render, but now it's really gone:

And of course, re-downloading and inserting LAME back in the root REAPER folder does nothing. What should I do now?

OBS: I'm using portable Reaper on Windows, if that helps

very strange because LAME is supposed to be included now since 5.50.

The reaper installer has some optional items, I'd check those

As EpicSounds mentioned above, the libmp3lame.dll is now included in the installer package (as part of the 'Required files') and gets installed to the 'Reaper/Plugins' folder.

So try this:

1) Remove the LAME file which you downloaded & inserted manually from the Reaper folder first
2) Run the Reaper installer again

If this doesn't solve the problem, we'll have to investigate further

So now REAPER looks into the /Plugins path, that's why messing with the root folder did nothing. Turns out that the libmp3lame.dll file was in the required path, but probably due to the path bug I mentioned earlier, it wasn't being retrieved.

solger's solution worked though, the MP3 option finally appeared in my render settings. Thank you guys
