Basically, it doesn't take anything away but allows you to say edit all drum tracks in one item (read: treat it like it was a stereo mixdown) when in reality it is still all open to editing as usual on a child track basis.
Haha sorry if I came off a bit rude. Perhaps, you should suggest your idea as an augmentation of the already well-faring feature request for different folder types:
http://forum.cockos.com/project.php?issueid=2071

That would satisfy me, as I could ignore your feature, while getting the aspects of that FR that I do want (organization folders).

Or maybe it's because 5 is the lamest number and 6 is the best.
Windows skips 9 because in german 9 is pronounced "nein", what means "no".

Imagine dozens of tracks with many items of different sizes, automation etc., which may not fit easily on the screen. The whole point is NOT to move the tiny items in the folder track, but to be able to edit/arrange the overview itself (regardless of it's internal complexity) with splitting, copying, pasting etc. all with the same ease as a single track.

It's also a great way to select everything in a folder without cumbersome marquee selection as well as see what's happening inside folders while they're minimized (without changing the height of the tracks themselves). For people like myself with high track counts, it's very helpful.

It's really one of the biggest features I miss from Cubase too. The benefits, while perhaps not clear by the simple picture, become obvious immediately when actually using it...

There are probably several reasons. For one thing, Windows 9x already exists; the term refers to the 1995 to 2000 builds - all versions of 95, 98 and ME.

But, VST3, or at least a sidechain work around.

ARA, Reatune and pitch edition like Melodyne are each different things.

Sure, there's no V in REAPER, but consider the next version number... REAPER V

I agree with EvilDragon, video editing is of little interest or use to me.

Haha yeah, the Thai themselves use it all the time on the webs. Quicker to type, and makes much more sense than "LOL" in their language (in Dutch, however, "lol" actually literally means "fun"). Also try 666 for mean jokes, and "555mæw" (ห้าห้าห้าแมว, pronounce "hah hah hah MAAEEW!") for "LOLcat".

<goes of to make fresh curry paste with pestle and mortar>
