neat. you have no idea the hours i've logged trying to get my budget brass slingerland tuned properly with the perfect heads, then mic'ed up just right to get an acceptable snare sound in my crappy 12' x 12' room. i just installed DR and grabbed the first snare sample google pointed to and it sounds way better than the original track.

obviously the overheads still have a lot of the original snare in there. i guess it's not a total waste. and if it is, break it to me softly.

You could always use ReaComp to have your snare track duck out the overheads, so none of the crappy snare gets through.

lol. yes i could.

i'm just about finished with one of my songs. the snare ain't too bad on that, but i'm recording a friend's band and the snare sucks. this is an awesome thing. stoked i took the time to install it and figure out how to use it.

the snare samples i grabbed were from a thread at gearslutz. can you point me towards some kick samples in the area of hard rock'ish sounding, sort of.

Default Gota Yashiki - the Funky Monk

This is an old CD+ but awesome. Groove activator Producer Series Vol 15 has a whole slew of single hits.

Now if someone can point me to the correct download link, that link provided on post one of page one (updated) couldn't complete on Firefox 3.6

You folks seem to be experts here. How do I open a vsti samplmatic5000 from a readrums vsti track once I close it? I've read the manual til I am blue in the face. I have 4 open and the blooming sampler has no audition button. Also -- my template folder is invisible. Why is this? In otherwords I can't drag readrums I downloaded into the folder because it doesn't exist? However Reaper sees it. Do I just resave it as a template (which is what I did but unfortunately I had edited it and added unneccessary tracks. Why is this folder invisible? End of OT. Check out Gota he is awesome.

You can access the Reaper folder from within Reaper itself under options.

If that's doesn't work, then you have to go to folder actions in your PC and make folders visible.

But I don't think that's the problem.

As for the rest of it, I'll let someone else step in to handle it.

This is getting annoying. I can't make this thing work properly to save my life. I have version 1.09. Reaplacer "sees" files that aren't even in the folder anymore. For example, I can load a file I made called "new kick" a while back, but there's no "new kick" sample file in the folder. That thing has been deleted for months. Do I need to uninstall this thing and re-install a newer version? Where is the newest version? Preferably one that works.

Conquering. I just don't understand why this thing won't work. I mean, it halfway works with some old halfassed samples I made a year ago, but I can delete everything from the sample folder and Reaplacer still sees them somehow, and it won't let me add anything new. I can load the folder up with new sample files, and all it sees is that old shit. I'm about ready to smash something.

are you sure you're working with the right folder? REAPER>DATA>DrumReaplacer? I have two folders in there, one for kicks and one for snares. find some free samples and put them in that folder and see if it helps.

I have to go C>Program Files>Reaper>Install Data

And in there, there's 2 Data files: "Data" and "Data_user"

And there's "effects" and "Effects_user"

WTF?

The file path in Win7 is Program Files(x86)\Reaper\InstallData\Effects..

I followed the directions and it is not showing up in the JS effects list. Am I doing something wrong?

Never mind...I found the correct path ~ similar to Vista. Its users\[username]\appdata\roaming\Reaper\effects

This is probably a big request but is there any chance of getting the comments in the code translated to English? I would really love to experiment a bit with the code as far as tweaking the functionality a bit!

Hopefully I got most of it right. There's ambiguous terminology here (both in Swedish and in English) with the word "sample" which can refer to individual samples in an audio file, as well as a whole sampled audio file itself. I used the work "sampling" to denote the latter. I hope I got that right.

If I messed anything up, please tell me and I'll try to fix it.

Oh... the preamble holds a lot of thoughts about this and that (mostly related to playing samples), I left that out as I don't think it is vital to understand the workings of the code.

Hate to keep bringing this thread up but I cannot seem to get the Drum Replacer loaded... I tried loading the test project and it says "JS:Jonas/DrumReplacer 1.0" could not be loaded. I followed the Read Me and put the Jonas folder into the Effects folder and the DrumReplacer folder into the data folder. The 3 drum tracks loaded no problem but DrumReplacer won't...
Anyone have any ideas???

In Reaper, open the Actions dialog (default '?'), then filter on "Show Reaper" and run the command "Show REAPER resource path in explorer". Does this open the file explorer in the folder under which you put the Effects\Jonas and Data\DrumReaplacer folders? If so, at least that is fine.

Next, create a new project, create a track, click the tracks FX-button. Filter the Add FX dialog on "jonas". Does the "JS:Jonas/DrumReaplacer 1.0" show? If so, all is fine there, and there is some problem with the supplied test project.

Let us know how this works out, and we can take it from there.

PS. Note the spelling, it is "DrumReaplacer" with "ea". If you manually created folders, you may have gotten that wrong (as you did in your post)

Ooops... so I was able to load DrumReaplacer... I've downloaded some drum samples... I click "Sample Source File" in DrumReaplacer and it does not allow me to select any sample .wav file... there's just a large white space and it doesn't point me anywhere.
I have reread most of this post and put some samples in REAPER/Data/DrumReaplacer (created this folder as it wasn't there) but that hasn't changed anything...

What am I missing???

You do not even see the files supplied with the DrumReaplacer download? In my AppData\Roaming\REAPER\Data\DrumReaplacer I have two files, one named
--- choose file, .ogg or .wav
and another named
Snare_Pipeline_Grip_24_samples.wav.
If you don't even see those when you try to open a file from within DrumReaplacer, then something went wrong with your installation.

I think DrumReaplacer is hardcoded to look for sample files in the AppData\Roaming\REAPER\Data\DrumReaplacer, so you need to put all your samples there (I think).

Default Sample Rate issues

Hey guys, i've got a bunch of drum tracks i've recorded for a solo album with a sample rate of 96k. I went to use Drum Reaplacer and noticed that i was getting a slight delay with the replaced sound. After i fiddled around and changed the sample rate back to 44.1K, it seemed to fix the problem. Thought i'd ask if anyone had any thoughts as to why this would be the case?

Thanks, Joe.

I've been having some timing issues as well. When rendering the output of DR the first part of the song the hits from DR will be a little early when compared to the original and the last part will be a little late. The song is a couple of minutes long.

A question: I've just recorded a rather sloppy performance velocity vice, and would like to reaplace the kick with something more even. How do I set it up?

Thank you
-W

Can this drum replacer also output 'xf8' = Midi beat clock events? If no, are there any Reaper related solutions or Reaplugs which can do this?

In short:

input: Very short 1 sample length noise samples as a sequence, e.g. in 1/96th note distances
output: 'xf8' = midi clock events

Thanks in advance.
