Default Electro music starter kit?

Hi there,
i spent a few hours watching tutorials and playing with reaper.I would like to make electronic music with midi and bass ect.But there are so many plugins and virtual instruments out there that i dont know what i need.
I know this is more of a general question, but what do you guys use to make a song with bass, melodies, midi, effects ect?I would like to create melodies and distort them but i dont know what tool i could use.I am looking for some free (legal) stuff. Can you recommend me some plugins for making techno like music?

Thank you

www.vst4free.com has tons of free instruments and effects.

Synth1 is a good general synth and has a good amount of presets available for free. T-Force Alpha Plus 2 is good for trance/techno. Either will be fine for leads, basses, and pads.

ErsDrums is good for electro drum sounds.

Dragonfly Reverb is a great algorithmic reverb.

ReaDelay is great for delay. Try setting Wet to -6 and Musical Value to 1.5 eighth notes.

If you want to distort the sounds, there are plenty of distortion options on vst4free, but I'm not sure that's what you meant. If it is, start with emulations of guitar distortion pedals, eg Distorque 104+, they'll have fewer options so easier to learn.

Even though LABS is not synonymous with electronic music, as it is free it is well worth checking out.

Grab all of the free TAL stuff: https://tal-software.com/products

Plenty of synths and effects there, and good quality.

A selection of free drum machine plugins here: https://blog.landr.com/free-vst-plugins-drums/

There may be things of interest here - not quite free but dirt cheap!

You can grab a copy of computer music, lots of free stuf inside.

For bass, synth, lead, effects : Uhe tyrell N6 and zebralette, free and sounds as good (sometime better) than paid plugins.
For drums Drumatic 3 is free.
My favorite is Microtonic 99 $ but worth the buy, drums sounds very electronic, is unique as you can access presets onlibne straight from the plugin.
Great for minimal/hard techno. I even purchase its hardware compagnion PO32.
I made a few tracks with it.
Reverbe : oil river free
have a look at Voxengo, some mastering plugins are free

And the most important thing to grab from Voxengo is SPAN.

In my opinion, of course.
