The Bug: Mouse modifier action Left click+Shift on item (confirmed by other users)

There are very unpleasant bug. Confirmed by 3 more people on different computers.

The bug

-Go to Options > Preferences > Mouse modifiers
-Choose Context: Media item > left click
-Search "Shift" modifier
-Choose in Behavior instead defalt - Action list
-Make "NEW" custom action
-Search & Drag as action "Item: Select item under mouse cursor (leaving other items selected)"
-Give name for action: BUG TEST
-Press OK > Select > Apply > Ok
-Try to make Multi-Selection of items with Left click +Shift
-See how it does not work )

Default action for Left click+Shift on item "Add a range items to selection, if already selected extend time selection" Also does not work as described. Do no extend time selection.



I need it for add some actions to standart mouse modifiers (Time selection: Set time selection to items)
To repeat some DAWs wolkflow (Ableton Protools)
What would the begin work with Reaper and not stumbling.



The mouse modifier on the / item / left click + shift / does not work if action "Item: Select item under mouse cursor (leaving other items selected)" is placed in the Custom Action. Also this action does not work for / item / left click + control
This action work fine from only from keyboard shortcut.

The first bug is confirmed here. Windows 10, Reaper 5.70 64bit.
When using any of the actions to select items under cursor leaving other items selected through a shortcut, it works, but it doesn't work in custom actions, which are used in mouse modifiers.

The second bug does not exist. It's just setup.
Advanced UI/system setting > Allow keyboard commands even when mouse editing

But first it`s really problem for me. I checked every checkbox of Reaper Preferences!

Please can anyone else check and confirm first problem?

FWIW, I ran into same problem not that long ago, I first used a shortcut key, but ended up using Shift + Middle Click.

AFAIK (On Win10 here), Media Item > Left Click + Key always selects the item under the mouse on left mouse down, and when you release the left mouse button it then runs the action, so some actions just aren't going to work as expected, not sure if bug, could just be a design trade off or something, IIRC its always been that way (since v5.16ish anyway).

Yeha, I think it's not a bug but a feature.
There are literally countless posts about that issue.
