Default Reaper compatibility w/FaderPort and Windows 7

Topic: How to Configure FaderPort in Windows 7?

I recently purchased FaderPort for the transport functionality.
I have a Mackie 1640i firewire mixer interfaceing with Reaper 3.73.
The unit I have will stall during playback. The Play key will be active (on) and the other functions (Play, Stop, etc.,) will not function.
To get the unit functioning I must:
1. Stop the playback from the transport function within Reaper,
2. Close Reaper
3. Disconnect the unit
4. and either Restart Reaper and reconnect the device or Restart my system and reconnect the device and restart Reaper.
In Windows 7, the control panel is configured differently from XP. Windows 7 does not have "Sounds and Audio Devices" only "Sounds". FaderPort does not appear in the properties section, Just the Mackie and the desktop speakers.
Any advice or suggestions: How to Configure FaderPort in Windows 7? will be much appreciated.

I found different threads touching on this matter with FaderPort and Reaper. However, they were referencing XP. Or may be this is an inquiry for Presonus,

Default How to Configure FaderPort in Windows 7

I've read through several postings related to FaderPort. Most posting are for XP. I have not encounter a posting that discuss how to configure FaderPort with Reaper on a Windows 7 box.
A bit of help will be appreciated ...

... or a response; negative or postive.

Thanks

Default Configuring FaderPort with Windows 7

I resolved my issue with FaderPort.
I successfully associated the FaderPort as USB audio device in Windows 7.
I been using the device for two days now without a single freeze, dropout or disconnection.
Thanks to everyone who posted their trials and successes.

I just bought one of these yestersday and briefly tried to set it up late last night but didnt quite get it to work. Can you expand upon how you got it to work by associating it as a USB audio device?
