Default X/M32 and X18 multitrack issues

Hello,

Since October 2023 I've been having issues multirackting via M/X32s and X18 mixing consoles. The waveforms all look correct but playback sounds like a VERY upset robot. Definitely not SMPTE sounding, and all sessions have the same playback sound no matter the version, console or waveform.

Before October 2023 I've used all of these devices with no issues at all.

macOS 10.15.7
Reaper versions 6.77 and earlier
USB B->A, USB B-> C

Sorry can't be more help. Not a Mac guy - good luck with the issue, will be following just to find out.

From what you've said... yeah, sounds like it.

If you can play back other files in Reaper and all the X32 recorded files since x date are static-y corrupted, then that's likely matter of fact.

I know there are reports of the USB audio interface card failing in these sometimes. Especially the original model. I have an X32 Rack and haven't had that issue. I think it's rare and only the first model that had the combo USB and firewire interface card. Not the later USB only card.

You've probably swapped the USB cable by now to check that?
If you're saying this is happening identically on 3 different units though (an XR-18, X32, and M32) then that kind of trashes my theory.

Do you know your system and workable block size range and all that and proper settings are confirmed? You're not trying to run with too low a block size for the system, not sample rate converting on the fly, or any of that kind of thing?

Well, those are the first questions I can think of right now.
I'd check the USB cable and then confirm the X32 audio interface card is working or not. Check Reaper quick with your built in audio interface on the computer for a cross check of computer/OS there.

Thanks Serr,

Good questions indeed.
Yes I have tested different cables on different consoles.

Sample rates and block depths have all been set correctly before recording.

Replied above, thanks Serr

I have been using the X32 for 5 years for tracking.
Never had any issues.
