option "scale peaks..." for take envelope for MEDIA ITEM FIXED LANES

Hello,
could we have the same option as the volume and pan pre-effect envelope in Preferences/Appearance/Peaks - Waveforms "scale peaks by pre-volume/pan envelopes" for take envelope please?
With media item fixed lanes, it will become essential.

As a workarrond, you can add a simple JS: Volume/Pan kind of FX to the take and use its related automatiok envelope. Waveform doesn't scale with FX envelopes.

if I put this JS on each item in my project (500 to 1000 items for example), won't it use a lot of CPU?

It shouldn’t, but you might have to try it to be sure. Also, with scaling peaks, and I could be wrong here, Reaper would likely have to re-render the files as temp files which would suck pretty hard. Talk about slowing down your workflow!

FX volume and pan envelope of volume or pan shouldn't use that much CPU. It isn't advanced calculation at all.

Is it possible to have a shortcut that only displays the volume envelope of this JS? I feel like no. we can only display all the active envelopes of the fx?

Having to use a JSFX is indeed a bit less accesible than a toggle in user preferences for " don't scale take envelope".


Though a script could add the volume/pan JSFX to selected takes and display the related FX envelopes in one keyboard key, to save few clicks.
But this would requires custom dev, it doesn't exist yet as far as I know.

It wouldn't seem too complicated to add to the preferences, because there is already the same option for pre-fx.

volume curves are not logarithmic. it poses a problem for making pencil curves

Anyway I was just proposing if workarround for the lack of Preference for the desired setting. It is not the desired solution and is less convenient. But that is all we can do for now except waiting.
