No, it is good that my report is not the only one. Probably others have this issue as well. If there are more reports, maybe developers will look into it and fix/improve it.

Back in Feb I started getting this same message. I simply exported my preferences then went in and renamed the REAPER.ini file and let the program rebuild itself on the next launch. Haven't had that crop up since. Something must have gotten corrupted for me as I was getting other crashes with the KORG Legacy bundle synths on exit. That went away as well.

In this instance it is usually do the MIDI device not responding. Usually you can fix this (making the window go away) by unplugging and replugging the MIDI device. To prevent this -- if you're using a USB hub, try removing the hub (or a different powered hub), as they often cause devices to hang.

Justin, in my case USB device is plugged directly, no USB hub inbetween.

Problem is that unplugging and replugging the MIDI device doesn't make the window go away - this is the bug (also reported here). It doesn't work as you describe above. Reaper becomes inacessible behind this window, waiting for window to close, but nothing happens, window remains open forever, and computer needs to be restarted in my case.

There is no way to bypas this notification window. Can you please put [Cancel] button on the window, so that window can be closed manually? Then the device can be manually rescanned and recognized with "Reset all MIDI devices" action.
