sorry d but i really dont follow that analogy!
for me.. folders are something you open and put things into.
so you'd create a folder (or tell an existing track to be a folder) and then drop the contents in.
but at the moment you say 'folder starts here' and then everything else below it goes in until you say 'folder ends here'.
i now understand how to do it but the logic , including two identical icons: one on left, one on right really seems out of step with the everything else in reaper where u 'select a bunch of things and perform an action'..
for a start you cannot pick non-consecutive tracks (if that is the right term) as you could using ctrl.. here they have to be next to each other already.
also if you want to add a track to an existing folder then its nothing to do with those folder icons.. you drag it in.
