finally a quick report back on the latest Stripper (0.94.0087) as I just updated now (did not want to jeoperdize my setup lately as it was a bit stressy here):

the new APIs work beautiful
On-Offlining Nebula instances is now the same as via Reaper's native FX-Chain: flawless and no crackles and hickups

Changing N4-Instance-order via stripper's fx-reorder is now also very quick and the same as reaper's native FX-chain-reordering. Very quick.
Now I won't have to go into the FX-chain that often anymore.

Regarding Timbral's mention of the save-status-screen:
it has to be much much quicker with saving (due to Reaper 5.95) or interpreted as "flicker" from Reaper itself and therefore removed (I read that in the changelog: reduced flicker of script-window-resizing...maybe?).

I noticed this after first updating Reaper to 5.95 and tried with the previous Stripper-version. It was almost invisible.
Then I updated stripper to the latest version and it's the same as with the previous one. Very quick to almost unvisible. I managed to see it once but for a fractal of a second. Maybe it will be better visible on real working projects with bigger stripper-data.

I really don't mind it this way though. It seems to be just very quick and responsive.

Anyways, big thanks for implementing the new FX-APIs. They are really great Sir

Thanks for the report Glad it's all working well! I've been wanting these API's since I realized how slow updating various things via the chunk could be - especially with N3/N4 instances! It's so so much better now.

You may be right about the progress bar in some cases - but one case of Timbral's (when it froze temporarily) I thought it should show. But it's really no biggy. I'm certainly drawing them - and they show up for me (maybe my hardware is not so quick).

I've been thinking of updating the messages and progress bar - making them more theme oriented - but only after I've finished the latest features (which are taking some time - as I want to have it all working perfectly when released - it's currently working 99% but not all ideas/features/options implemented yet).

Oh - and Timbral's videos are slowing my progress down somewhat - haha - spend too much time watching and admiring them!

probably there was a reason for that and also probably i asked this before..
but..

cough!..ehamm!

may i beg and cry for extended "Page Snap exclude"
once we activate the checkbox in the inspector and set the type Meter,
it would really wonderful*
if all that parameters will automatically ignored
while the Page or Subsets cloned to the new subsets (Ctls Only)

Ok - let me check I understand fully.

Any Page Snapshot excluded controls should not be added to a subset when you clone to subset?

That makes perfect sense to me and clearly an oversight when I added the exclude controls feature...

Yay!

absolutely yes! much better than my messy idea
(if there is no some usage possibilities that i am not aware)
once excluded must stay excluded .. forever!

Good Morning. How can I hide the __LBX_CTL track on the lbx stripper? It turns yellow in LIVE MODE.
Another question, how can I assign the same fader to more than 1 control? When I select an already used fader, it disables the previous fader.

Thank you

a Q.
is there is any technical reason
for example when we rename a snapshot or overwrite one of them
PAGE Snapshot always resets the "LOOP" state we defined?

Subsets seems fine if i am not mistaken..

EDIT2:

wacky one .. is this possible?
seeing also the names that we give in the Parameter Value Control ?

Default LBX Problem

I'm trying to use LBX with vsti as Mainstage. I want to create layouts for my channel strips for easy access via the midi controller via the faderbox.
My question:
I created a layout in the __LBX_CTL track for the F1, F2, F3 ..... only to use as strip model.
I click on the other track, edit, strip and I enter the same strip and I go in fx and I drag the new commands on top of the old slider to put new command in it and I can no longer control by the mouse. Any idea what that might be? I have a gif demonstrating this but it is 5MB and I can not upload it here.

Yes - use Action Triggers - but buttons only if there isn't a dedicated control type available. Note at the moment - action triggers do not indicate the current state of the button - so it will toggle play on/off if you use the appropriate action - but you cannot get the button to show whether it's playing or not. Something I'll look into in the future to show action toggle states.

Action Triggers can be found in TRACK EDIT mode under OTHER CONTROLS.

Anyway - could you please export your strip as a Sharestrip file (in STRIP EDIT mode - right click the strip in the list on left and Export as Sharestrip). Email this created .sharestrip file to me.

I'll see if I can work out what you're doing and why it's not working.

EDIT:

Oh - i see it's a strip set. Can you please do as above - just saving the strip itself - send me the sharestrip of this strip - and also the strip set file (in LBXCS_resources/sets). Probably just the sahrestrip is enough though.

i lied! .. here is the actual wacky one!

i was thinking about if there is more "Take" controls/functions
that we can access from the Stripper
and i think i found the one that would be the top most useful..

ehamm...

is the Take Nudge function (not moving the Take itself in the time line .. i mean nudge-ing / sliding the content of the takes)
(and Store & Recall with the Snapshots) accessible/possible via Stripper?

Timbral have you tried using JS: Time Adjustment Delay combined with a take switcher? That's what I'm using to get the same functionality.
Especially if you edit the JSFX to have a smaller range in samples (I have mine at -120 and +120) so it's easier to control in stripper.

Thank you Arthur!
i tried with both DTAdjustment and Rea Delay
but what i was 'dreaming' is like this:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1yL...5gu_RnMuaV6Wez

instant play without delay and more important part is doing this in Tempo Sync
i believe (hypothetically of course)
fixed 1/32 Slide function would enough,
one move 1/32 two move 1/16 .. so on..
(BTW. 1/32 slide not so useful with the high Bpms but does some interestingly nice rhythmic weirdness in the slow Bpms )

Good stuff! I see what you want to do, yes, that Start Offset Control would be really useful. At some point, I think other item property controls could be useful too: like Pitch, Rate and Reverse.

Thanks!
pitch easily replaceable in my case but Rate and Reverse would great..

btw
i think Reversing the midi items wouldn't that much useful
because of the note start times.

anyway, before fly further .. let see what Mr GTW thinks

EDIT:
how about also Loop Start and End points?

EDIT2:
first EDIT was stupidly meaningless .. there was no loop start and end in the midi editor,
only Loop position you can change/define but i don't think it would useful
sorry!

just a quick bug-crash report:
yesterday I had a strip in my project which uses the 3-state-wet/dry-bypass-off/line buttons and when clicking it for bypass or offline it crashed the script and took with it the stripdata for this track it was on. Dry-wet worked normal.
I'm on reaper 5.95 and on latest stripper 0.94.0087

I will post the error-message tomorrow, not on my studio-machine right now

(it Might be related to the new used APIs maybe?)

Cheeers

AAh - sorry about that!

I *may* have already fixed that in the version of Stripper I have had lying around for the past few weeks - plucking up the courage to release it - but also worrying about having the time to respond to error reports!

I'll try and release it tomorrow - but along with it goes a bit of explaining about the new features...

Update released (0088).

New mode - MIX MODE!!

For those that want a slightly different way to work with your strips.

Very Basics:

Right-click LIVE MODE button to enter MIX mode.

Now simply drag in strips from the strip browser or right-click menu (NOT STRIP EDIT MODE - this isn't compatible - and not really needed - but you can switch between LIVE mode and MIX mode easily if ever required.

Each strip will load inside a switcher. The switchers can be dragged around to reorder them. Plugins should keep track and relocate when order is changed.

I'm aware of a bug where the switcher may load with the wrong graphics under certain conditions and will look into.

Shortcuts:

TAB - show/hide switcher overlay
\ - show/hide floating switchers
Shift+\ - change view orientation

Double-click a switcher or ctrl+shift+click drag a strip to float it.

And loads of other stuff I cannot even remember just now... Will update if I remember!!

Oh - and of course bug fixes...

Hi ib0!

Just wanted to say amazing work! I have been dreaming about something like this for so long. I may try to install it again ( gave up last time as it was a little difficult for me)

Btw how stable is it so far? Is it still in the experimental stage or can i trust it on full projects?

Hi OPI,

Well - as long as I'm making changes - each release can potentially contain bugs. I rely on the community to report most bugs back to me as I only have time to do a certain amount of testing - and real world testing - and users doing things that I hadn't thought of - is very useful.

I always try to release without any showstopper bugs - but sometimes they slip through.

In terms of compatibility - I always try to keep backwards compatibility - and as far as I know - I think I've managed to retain backwards compatibility right back to the very beginning so far (at least no reports to suggest otherwise).

So a newly released major update (like last nights) - has potential for a few bugs I've not found yet - and I rely on people reporting them. But it's always stable in my testing before I release it - it's just sometimes I've not tested everything thoroughly enough.

The key to using it (especially a new update) - is frequent saving of the project and making new versions until you yourself are confident it is stable. Also back up any vital data frequently.

Thanks a lot for the update
here is a quick report after a short try:
3-state buttons don't crash anymore, but shift-clicking for bypass doesn't work. Dry-Wet and ctrl-click for Offline does work.

When I'm in MIX-mode and enter a strip, it appears only for a fraction of a second and then disappears. When I switch to LIVE-mode the strip is there. Back in MIX-mode it is not visible again.

I must be missing something

Also when I press "TAB" to show the switcher overlay it goes to normal behaviour as in previous versions for dragging around the strips, no overlay shows here.
I installed also the new ressources and LBX-insert.

Will play around further and see if i get a hang of it

Will play around further and see if i get a hang of it
How do you enter a strip in MIX mode? I've probably missed something and it's not being added properly for mix mode. Unless it is in a special type of Switcher (which gets auto created) it won't show up in MIX mode.

What I envisage - only add strips from browser or right click menu in MIX mode (not EDIT strip mode). This should work...

I added it via button "i" (native keycommand for quick-browser-insert). I will try all other insert-methods now and see

EDIT: it works when I add strips via right-click, my bad.
Although there was something strange: I installed the "LBX-insert.jsfx" before that, and it worked normally in Reaper on its own. But with stripper it was loaded offline (as in "plugin not found") because my "LBX insert" had no ".jsfx" ending on the name.
After I added this ".jsfx" to the name it worked and the strip-switchers load automatically when adding a strip in mix-mode now.

I still can't switch the orientation. The shortcut does not work here. It just closes my stripper window. On my keyboard the "" is on Ctrl-Alt, so I have to press "Shift+Ctrl+Alt+ß" to get "Shift+". Maybe this is the reason.
But I wanted to try the different orientation as the vertical alignment in mix-mode requires a lot of scrolling to get to the next strip as there is so much free space on the left and right side and I could easily fit more strips from left to right instead of from up to down.

Hope this makes any sense

EDIT 2: I got the orientation-switch working now. I looked up the number for the keyboard-key in lbxstripper.lua and added this command to the "keycommands.ini" and gave it a different number, now I have the orientation-switch on "C" and it works great.
Now I can see what the mix-mode is supposed to do

Really a great add-on. Re-ordering strips is now very easy and quick, and changing complete strips is also nice. I wish I could access more strips when wanting to switch an existing strip. I only have the FAVs in the right-click on a switcher.

But all in all a great feature. I finally understand it now and know how to use it
Big thanks MR.!

Bit confused by the Shift+""

The shortcut should be Shift + \ - which is the | key. So wherever your | key is - try that.

I might be mistaking you for someone else - but I thought you were remapping the keys? If so - add mixmode_orient key to the remap file to remap it to whatever you like.

Ah - forgot about the i shortcut to insert - d'Oh! Will fix that hopefully tomorrow.

Will look into the .jsfx extension thingy - yes - mine has .jsfx on the text file name. Thanks for spotting that - I think Arthur was having problems with this - and that may be the solution.

thank you, I did exactly that - i added this command to keycommands.ini and gave it a different number. Now it's on "C" and works. Seems like i could not trigger this key you mentioned, I don't have it on my keyboard or at least I dont see it.
And yess, I am the one who remapped his key-combos haha

Adding with "i" would be cool thank you.
I really like the autopositioning of the added strips also. Very convenient.

Glad you like it so far I think it works well for mixing - easier to do some of the basic things you might want to do when mixing (hence the name) - such as reordering/replacing plugins etc.

It's still kind of a work in progress - but stable at least I hope. I felt I needed to release this as is due to a few bugs that I'd ironed out from the previous version, and I didn't want to have to update the old version.

the | key is used in many programming languages as an 'or' logical operator so I'd be surprised if it wasn't there at all. ASCII 124.

EDIT: Oh and this method allows up to 10 (auto managed and invisible to the user) pages worth of strips per track. So hopefully you should never run out of space for adding new strips to a track. It'd be one hell of a chain (or with some very big strips) to go past the limit!

Does the TAB key work for you to show/hide the overlay? - this can be used to easily navigate the switchers/strips. Left click on a plugin in the overlay - and it will centre on that plugin. Right click and drag to scroll around.

If you ask me - at some point I'll usually get round to tweaking it. I just often forget that I've done it as I move onto other things. haha - a sorry state of affairs?

I think I forget I've done something when it is a tiny quick tweak - so it doesn't linger in the brain so easily. When I have to think about stuff more - ie. it's more complex or huge and takes more thought - then it stays in there for longer!

EDIT: The undo only really undoes tweaks to controls data - position/ctl options settings etc. It was simply too cumbersome to cover added/deleted controls - due to the snapshot remanagement (and other control linking/numbering stuff) that would be required.

to me, current functions of undo redo perfectly enough .. me happy!

EDIT:

while try to copy paste a Label via the shortcut icons/Stripper Edit Toolbar (<-- deserves a name what should i call?)

this little thing happened:
LBX Stripper.lua:61010: attempt to index a nil value (local 'obj')

EDIT2:

add a strip
which has Subset that created automatically by Stripper from PAGE set while Strip saving..

try to change the Snapshots
LBX Stripper.lua:67612: attempt to index a nil value (field '?')

Restart the Reaper

add the same strip
change the auto name (#page...") to a new one and try to save/overwrite the strip:
LBX Stripper.lua:65012: attempt to concatenate a nil value (field 'stage')
&
after restart the Reaper i loaded the same strip and Subset was vanished

same error number also happened with the one version before (v-0.94.0087) that you sent me last time via email.

...

no problem, i have stripper full data backup..

so i replaced the strip from backup
and switched Stripper back to official v-0.94.0087 (last 0087 from GitHub)
load the Strip .. ok,
renaming the subset -auto- name & overwrite strip .. ok
finally reload the strip .. perfect!

final finally:
switch to v-0.94.0088
load the strip .. works! problem solved!

now close Stripper, delete the strip track
(no track left in Reaper)

LBX Stripper.lua:35461: attempt to index a nil value (field '?')

add an empty track and re open the Stripper no error!

side note: there is no error message when i restart the Reaper and open the Stripper.
(my default Reaper Template is empty/has no track)

now.. nerds gonna nerdy - couldn't stop ..

switch back to official v-0.94.0087
add track + open Stripper + add same strip + close Stripper + delete the track (0 track left)
+ re open stripper no error!

(Bonus probably was there for long time but i just saw this behavior):
close Stripper undo delete track + re open Stripper ..walaa Strip returns to life!
but there was a little bummer Kontakt couldn't load the patches i had to load manually..

switch to v-0.94.0088 again
add the strip + close Stripper + delete track + open stripper: same error
undo delete track + re open Stripper: strip back to life again
but the Kontakt is empty same as like in the first test.

that's all Folks!

and a question

is it possible to have an option in the Page and Subsets
do not recall/Bypass the Modulator & Fader assignments/captures on Snapshot load?

i think would really useful
especially in the complex projects that has multiple Subsets..
so while testing capture combinations between PAGE(s) & Subsets.

Blimey - Thanks!! - have updated to fix (I think) most of those - unless there's something I've missed or misunderstood.

The snapshot page -> subset issue when loading a strip should be fixed.

Let me know if anything continues to break!!
