Should the behringer x32 showup as a midi device in preferences as long as the usb cable is between the x32 and the pc? Or does something else need to happen? Can you give me the step by step?
Make sure you have MIDI In/Out Enabled on the X32.
Setup > Remote > MIDI Control Interface
It should be noted that the X32 MIDI is for controlling the X32. It can also be used to control an external device (i.e. control surface). It is not a general purpose MIDI interface like you'd find on an audio interface.
Edit: AFAIK, the USB cable is for 32x32 audio only.
