Default LiceCap not working in Mac OS: Big Sur

Hi Admin,

I've been using Licecap for a few months now. Recently I upgraded my OS to Big Sur and Licecap is not supported in this upgrade. Can you please check and provide an updated version of Licecap.
P.s. It is the best software to create light .gif recorded files.
Thank you.

Default LICECAP BIG SUR not working Blank white ( non-transparent ) screen

I just upgraded to Big Sur and now Licecap is not working. I get a non transparent white LICEcap screen. I am actually surprised not more people have commented on this. Is this an incompatibility with Big Sur or do I need to change something? This is the greatest software ever and would gladly donate if needed to make compatible with the Big Sur release.

Default A mail to encourage you!

LiceCap is the best tool I've tested to create animated Gif captures and it's a shame I can't use it anymore on MacoS Big Sur. I hope you will be able to provide us with an update soon! Are you working on it? Will there be an update? Thank you in advance and good luck.

He is here all the time. You can also try to write an email to him.

Default no response

No answer,
I sent a personal message to "Justin" on February 6th. But I have no answer. That's worrying... We just have to wait ...

Pas de réponse,
j'ai envoyé un message personnel à "Justin" le 6 février. Mais je n'ai aucune réponse. C'est inquiétant... Il ne reste plus qu'à attendre ...

Default waiting for better

Hello everyone!
Even on the GitHub, the creator of the software seems to be turning a deaf ear, I really think that Licecap will not be reborn

While waiting for the creator of LiceCap to wake up (nice joke Mr. creator, no offense) I found an alternative.

Use two programs to have a light capture (well, not as light as LiceCap but it's already not bad).

I do the capture with Ghipy Capture 4.1 then I pass the animated gif in ImageOptin 1.8.8 (https://imageoptim.com/fr). I thus go from a 9Mb Gif to a 2.5Mb Gif.

Don't worry. I'm certain if Justin would respond to every message he gets, there wouldn't be a new Reaper version.

Default Thank You !

SUPER! HUGE! FANTASTIC! GENIAL! A big thank you to you for giving us back LiceCap ;-) LiceCap is great again! And the little bug of the previous version has even been fixed! (you had to specify the .gif extension in the filename)... A Big Thank You!

Default New bug on Big Sur

Hello,
I recently upgraded my Mac OS to Big Sur had to download the latest version of Licecap, 1.31, as mentioned above. However, it's still not working for me.

Licecap no longer records what's in front of it.
Instead it records my desktop background picture—and just the picture. Not even the files that are on my desktop. Whatever browser window or tab it's focused on, the final gif produced is always the same: my desktop picture with my mouse moving all over it, seemingly doing nothing.

Any idea that's causing this?
Is there a setting I can change, or is this truly a bug?

I'm a product design and I use Licecap daily so it's a real problem for me.
I'd gladly pay for Licecap if I could.

Thank you for your help!

You likely need to allow access. See: https://github.com/justinfrankel/lic...ment-790751249

It does, although I think on later versions of macos you have to click outside the frame first to move focus away from the licecap app itself.

I had trouble using LICEcap in macOS Monterey now (capturing only a desktop background) and thankfully found the answer here (access allowed and working again perfectly).
Thanks
