Default .reabank files format

Hi, I am using a Casio PSX 3000 Keyboard - it's nice, but the MIDI implementation is quite horrible :/

The (internal MIDI !) sounds are NOT grouped to logical banks - f.e. Piano 1 is on Bank 3 Sound 0, but Piano 2 on bank 1 Sound 1, Piano 3 on bank 2 sound 0 and so on ...

Is there any way to create a .reabank file with a format like Prog-Nr Bank-MSB Bank-LSB for each line / sound?

There are some kind of "unsorted" .ins files, but it takes me hours for searching the correct sound ..

Thx for your help
Deffe

btw: I found a cubase patch file that perfectly fits - perhaps a "load cubase patch file" would be a nice feature

Simplest solution is to find a Cakewalk instrument file (.INS). It'll load just like a ReaBanks file.

Then edit a copy of it so each line contains both bank and program. Once you do that you can sort by program nanes to get all the pianos (for example) on adjacent lines in the file.

I've done this for my Roland GR33 guitar synth and it works fine.

Hi Philbo King,
I do have an ".ins" file, but is has the "normal" format: one line for the BANK and then the sounds in this bank:

[CASIO PX-S3000 Bank 1-0]
1=2 GrPno Bright
0=4 Stage Piano
6=25 Harpsichord1
4=32 Elec.Piano 1
5=43 Digital EP 1
7=54 Clavi 1
11=60 Vibraphone 1
13=64 Xylophone
8=65 Celesta
9=66 Glockenspiel
...

At the end of the ".ins" file is a patch section:

.Instrument Definitions

[CASIO PX-S3000 Patch]

Patch[0]=CASIO PX-S3000 OTHERS 0-0
Patch[128]=CASIO PX-S3000 Bank 1-0
Patch[256]=CASIO PX-S3000 Bank 2-0
...

Could you please post a snippet of your GR33 ".ins" file, so that I can see how to combine bank and sound infos?

Thx
Deffe

I must apologize, I misstated my solution. It turns out there are only 2 banks in the GR33, called Presets and User. My solution probably won't work for you.

You might find this useful if you revert back to trying Reabanks:

In case you want to look it over:

Thx for the info - yes, this won't work for me ...
But one question: at the end of your file there is an entry "BankSelMethod=1"
Do you know what it stands for and what for Modes exists?

Greetings

=======================

Because not all synthesizers strictly agree the MIDI specification, there is a BankSelMethod setting available to .INS instrument specifications. One explanation of the INS format is here: http://tse3.sourceforge.net/doc/InsFiles.html

Bankselmethod takes a value from 0 to 3, meaning:
0 = Normal - bank select MSB and LSB matter
1 = Only the MSB is used and defined
2 = Only the LSB is used and defined
3 = Only program changes are used and defined

Method 0 (normal) is used by default. This is the method usually needed by GM/GS and XG synthesizers.
