That one is interesting as well but the very first thing that crossed my mind is that the eye automatically adjusts to the existing light color - in other words a white piece of paper usually gets interpreted as white even if the light in the room is say red. I see the same thing possible in that video aka it wouldn't be that big of a stretch for the brain to see it as white.

I cannot for the life of me see this robe black and blue, even after hiding the surrounding.

It wouldn't be the surrounding light but the brain assuming the light hitting it. Not that much different than taking a picture indoors and everything being orange tinted even though the colors looked perfectly normal to your eyes when taking the picture. The camera recorded what was actually there, the eyes compensated for the incandescent lighting.
