Suggestions for debreathing?
Hello,
I happen to edit many hours of voiceovers per week and the most tedious part is debreathing. I usually select the breath, and SUPR and then re-position the right part of the audio so there is a natural gap where the breath was.
I wonder if there is a way or a keyboard combo to "mute" the selected part of the audio. This would make my work a bit more easy, I won't have to re-position the audio after the de-breathing.
Many thanks!

You could try using ReaFir for noise reduction. Catch a sample of the breathing (on its own) and see how you go.

Thanks for that. I really don't trust that kind of automation. But it would be great if I could mute selected options of the timeline. That would totally do the trick.

- Set up a mouse modifier for Envelope segment - Move envelope segment, I have Shift+Ctrl for this
- Turn on Take volume envelope
- Alt+RMB drag creates a time selection
Now you can Shift+Ctrl+LMB drag the envelope to silence the breath.
Above I have used the Envelope-Base Compressor to compress the vocal, so the take volume envelop is there. Then do Alt+RMB with Shift pressed at the end to adjust without snap. Then Shift+Ctrl+RMB drag to zero out the breadth. Once you get the hang of it, this is lightning fast.
I think that the default Alt+RMB drag on the arrange view was taken over by razor editing, so I had to set it back to "Marquee select items and time", but maybe you can do the same thing with razor edits, I don't know.

I do much like Fabian. Here's a custom action for adding 4 points and dragging them down 3dB. I make the time selection on the breath, pop, sssss, ttttttt, what ever, then place my mouse cursor over the envelope and use a shortcut key to perform the action.
Code:
Custom: Select env, insert 4 points at tm selection, Dwn 3dB
SWS/BR: Select envelope at mouse cursor
Envelope: Insert 4 envelope points at time selection
Envelopes: Move selected points down a little bit
Envelopes: Move selected points down a little bit
Envelopes: Move selected points down a little bit
Go to start of time selection
I never thought about doing what nicholas suggests, I might be able to use that for something else.

yeah...and now you can use razor edits on the env lane so you just drag out the edit and then LMB to drag down the volume level... very fast way to to.... Kenny has a recent video tutorial exactly about doing this
much easier than the old time selection way

If you really have lots of stuffs to debreath, you can use certain VST like Accousonus Debreath.

In the mouse modifiers you can change it so mouse drag with no key modifiers drags an envelope in a time selection, just like razor edits.
Spectral wave view might speed up finding breaths, too.

I just paint them in the envelope lane - if it's getting out of hand, I create 1 or 2 automation items and copy them.
