Default Drawing on a CC curve

Please help a MIDIot out!

See the attached screenshot.

I've got a hi hat CC curve here (open close) and the orange curve is the CC on the existing track.

No matter what I try, when I try to draw a curve over the exiting one, even with a portion of it selected, I get the green overlay and I don't even know what that is. I'm trying every mouse modifier with the various options.

I should say in some instances I actually CAN draw over the exiting orange CC curve, but I haven't figured out what I'm doing differently on the times it works and the times it doesn't.

I can't seem to insert a point, which would also work. I can drag existing points around.

How do I draw and edit the existing CC curve? I'm just trying to force the hihat open or closed for different sections.

Green is for channel one (default).
In the lower right corner, choose the right channel for your drum track.

Thanks a ton! It was on drum track channel 10.

This helps tremendously!
