Render items to mono?

I'm struggling to find an action that does this: I want to be able to render a stereo audio item as mono, i.e. bounce down both channels to one channel. The closest I can find is "Apply track/take FX to items as new take (mono output)" but this applies track FX which I don't want.

Does this action exist?

You can choose File/Render and set the source to "selected media items."

If it's for use in the project as opposed to exporting for other use, you can also open its Item Properties and set the channel mode to Mix Mono (L & R).

Thanks, but I'm looking for an action in the action list that will do this, so that it can be included in custom actions.

I'm not looking to just play the item "as mono" but to actually render it to a new mono take.

Actions:
- Item properties: Set take channel mode to mono (downmix)
- Item: Glue items, ignoring time selection

@mlprod, thanks, not sure how I missed the "set take channel to mono" action!

Although instead of gluing (which joins clips together) I follow it up with "render items to new take (preserve source type)"
