Default .mp3.reapeaks on Desktop?

I just downloaded the newest version of Reaper today, congratulations, it looks great!

I am getting white rectangular icons like a dog-eared page on my desktop while working with reaper. I've taken to deleting them, but is there someplace they should be stored that I can set in Preferences.

(I do see the bak File is stored correctly in the same folder as the Reaper File.)

Thank you all, I'm a little rusty so may need some help :-)
------
It seems like I was missing files so I put the AIFF Files I was working on in the folder with the Reaper files and all is well :-)
The .mp3.reapeaks files are also appearing there in their proper places.

BTY, I know this is Reaper 101, but what are the .mp3.reapeaks files for?

They are the audio waveform image files. They can be deleted without a problem, as they will be automatically rebuilt when opening a project. It will take a while for a large amount of audio though.

Default ...in addition.

After having this same issue myself, I found that after setting the alternate path, you must go into:

Reaper Preferences>MEDIA>Store All Peak Caches in alternate path

...and make sure that that is flagged.
