PK and Dash - Thank ya thank ya Andy..Ha!
Just love this forum.
What amazes me, since I stated with punch cards and Fortran, how all these
independent programmers, Torvold et al. ---> adinfinitum,....just on their
desire to program and create have truly affected and changed our society for
the better. Moreover even how the large companies do business and actually
plan their worlds.
Thats why I had started donating as soon as I started using their products.
Just a Wonderment AFAIAK.
Best to all,
RR

Most used Linux Dystro for REaper
Guess I'm somehow out of touch.
I figured there'd be a sort of consensus as the most utilitarian Linux
Dystro/Version to use with Reaper.
If it is Windows 7 or 10,...so be it.
Best,
RocketRick

Idk about "most utilitarian" but Manjaro has probably drawn the most Winblows refugees, due to its user friendliness, GUI package manager etc. It also gets the most recommendations around here.
It comes with Pipewire, so it works for low latency DAW use out of the box. Also available in different flavors. I'll never go back.

Linux Dystro for REaper
Thanks FoxA - A customer support person with RME said, about using their products with Linux..
"Use Class Compliant Mode In Linux and using the ALSA Drivers.
I think that means OpenSUSE....but not sure.
Ya know I want to use Linux with REaper but maybe that is out of my "wheel-house" so to speak.
Anyways, I thank you for your time and knowledge.

You shouldn't need to do much of anything. Drivers are built into the kernel. The only caveat to using RME with Linux is you don't get to use the nice mixer software they provide. Instead we have HDSPMixer, which does the job, just not as elegantly. Performance is better than on Windows for me.
Furthermore, you can run Manjaro from a USB before installing it to see if it's going to work for you. Install HDSP from the app manager and you're good to go.

Linux RME & REaper
Im gonna get squared away with RME in Win 10 first then try switching to Linux. The compiter was built by ADK just for recording but they made huge mistakes. Order was for Intel 9 and they installed Win 7 instead plus sent wrong PCI cards. When i asked to get right CPU they said the board didnt take i9...duh...THEY spec'd the board. I just think they have poor communicatin or they spec'd the i0 system and screwed up on the cost to me.
Id heard they are ace builder and lots of good reviews. Not from me now.
Ive built em and it aint rocket science just specing items that work together is all.
No mas with those guys anymore but even with i7 and 8 cores it seems to fly with out oxygen ha!.
RME folk have been very helpful.
Thanks again for your kind attention.
