Default Crashing when changing to ASIO

In Audio Device Settings, when I change the Audio System to Asio, it immediately crashes Reaper. On the latest build using Windows 10.

Could you both tell us what interface make & model you are using?

Generally, if you have installed the ASIO drivers for your interface, it should simply be a case of opening reaper & selecting ASIO in reaper`s preferences/audio device/audio device settings/audio system/ menu & then selecting your ASIO device name in the preferences/audio device/audio device settings/audio driver/

I know this is a bit long-winded, but doing it right is pretty straightforward.

Let`s hope this is a nice easy answer for you both.

Default Focusrite ASIO driver Solo and reaper not so good

Never has been for me. Using a solo 2x2 3rd gen. Killer machine but even the latest ASIO driver (4.102.4) from Focusrite sucks. You need a silly buffer size in the ASIO set up to get it to not tear on start of playback or do funky noises. All other machines I use have no issue with things like Motu or Behringer. I really starting to not like these. The larger Focusrites we have work great. Just not the Solo's for some reason.

Here's an updated webpage from Focusrite on what you should use for reaper... https://support.focusrite.com/hc/en-...er-Setup-Guide

Still funky for me on playback start with buffers that low.

I feel your pain. I had a bad experience with the drivers for two focusrite interfaces a few years back. That is a very low buffer size, particularly with a driver that sounds as though it may no be optimal, and certainly would not work on older or slower systems. I am surprised they recommend starting that low. I would try starting with a higher buffer (128 or 256) which are still very usable. Also, try unchecking 'request sample rate and buffer size', and instead set those in whatever utility comes with the asio driver for your device.

Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 Gen. 3
But it can't be the issue because this only happens in the new version of Reaper. It is fine if I downgrade Reaper. (Something I did not spot until recently)
