Changing takes unpredictable and random
How I noticed:
- selected a bunch of clips, hit T to go to next take. All clips should each advance to the next take for that clip. I'm pretty sure it used to work this way. Now when I hit T, all of the clips jump to the last take, regardless of how many takes there are or which take is selected
Further investigation:
- this was happening with a bunch of clips selected, so I selected the first clip only. Pressed T. Instead of the highlight jumping from take 2 to take 3, it jumped from take 2 to take 5. If I used shift-T to back through the takes and go back to take 2, then pressed T again, it then correctly moved to take 3.
- was able to repeat with other clips in the project. First time using T it jumped to wrong take, but if I then went back and forth with T and Shift-T, the proper behaviour returned
So... something wrong with how Reaper is stepping through the takes. Even if I have a bunch of clips selected, when I hit T, it should move to the next take in each individual clip.
Possibly related: these clips started out as one big clip that I split a bunch of times using S to make a vocal comp and take out empty space between phrases. So it seems when splitting a clip, the newly created clips do not have their take order correctly created/stored perhaps, but Reaper cleans it up when you move around through the takes?
