Default Replace old drum track

I've been importing some old 4-track cassette recordings into reaper and have something I can use some help on if possible.

A couple of these recording have some pretty basic drums from an old Roland TR-606. What I would like to do is to figure out how I can replace these with something with an improved sound.

How can I match the tempo and replace this with something better?

I should add that I have an old Alesis drum machine that I can use for the new drum track or can try and learn how to use a plugin.

The best way is to mic up a drum set and ask a competent drummer to redo the tracks.

Since it's a 4 track, the drums are likely mono (on just one track)? There's no great way to do it inside Reaper automatically. If the drums were recorded on separate audio tracks it would be much simpler.

You could go through the track, hit by hit, and add a midi note for each hit to feed a drum VSTi, if your time is cheap...
