Default Addictive Keys Upright Piano noise - solved

Hi,

Is anyone using this vst? I've downloaded and installed it through XLN's online installer. It loads in reaper and works, but in most presets there is a noise/hiss/crackling in the background when a key is playing and after it has been played (the decay). It doesn't sound like a problem with the buffer size (although I did try to change it and the noise stayed the same)). I contacted XLN's support, but in the meantime I was wondering if someone here had the same experience.

Solved! XLN's support contacet back. Apparetly in was the "noise effect module" that the mic's and master have (emulating tube noise something like that). To turn it off you need to go to the "edit" tab, and turn off the "Noise" in each mics.

Is it a trial version? Sometimes manufacturers cripple the audio output in some way until you buy a license...

Are there any other plugins on that track or any other tracks that are record armed and monitored?

Do you have RCA cables connecting your interface to your monitor setup?

Is this happening with both the stand alone and as a VST in Reaper?

- It happens both in the standalone and the VST.
- I only use headphones to monitor (sennheiser hd 380 pro). They are connecter to the Scarlett 2i2.
- No other tracks are armed or monitored.

Interesting thing though - in 10:10 in this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUtz...T1zUIFBA9eyVOQ), can you start hearing hissing when he playes? It sounds exactly like what I'm experiencing.

I would describe that as "crinkly"?

I've not encountered that; but that sounds like a computer lagging. Does your computer meet min spec?

.. having said that, it also sounds like "partially shorted cheap/thin conductor cable".

It's a feature, not a bug.

Look in the edit window on a preset like the "modern grit" example in the video you posted. You'll see a "compress and distort" setting.

It's adding harmonics to cut through a busy mix.

Hi Judders, XLN's support just contacted me and said something similar. It wasn't the "Compress and Distort" but "Noise" it the microphones settings and in the VST's master.

Bottom line - Solved!
