Default AIs being displayed in Item Lane should behave like Free Item Positioning Mode items

currently, AIs being displayed in item lanes have their own mini-lanes in which they appear. if you have multiple AIs on multiple params, you have multiple lanes. deleting the last AI per mini-lane makes the lane disappear -- that's great.

however, if you have 2 AIs on 2 different parameters at 2 different places in the track, these AIs appear on their own mini lanes unnecessarily.

AIs being displayed in this way should take inspiration from the excellent Free Item Positioning Mode, and should take up as much vertical space as is available. they should only appear in dedicated lanes if there are 2 simultaneous AIs in the same place and time.

Default

here's an image better demonstrating what i'm talking about

1st track: the current automation item lane behavior
2nd track: FIPM with items demonstrating the current automation behavior
3rd track: FIPM with items demonstrating the desired automation behavior, where items/ais would expand to take up the maximum vertical space available. otherwise you can end up with this needlessly lost space:
