Rendering Video and audio

This seems not easy.

Can someone just tell me what is the usual standard type of file I should be rendering too. ?

The whole piece lasts 20 seconds..I just need to be able to send the file to someone. I have recent VLC .

So far I’ve tried every file type I have in Reaper.....nothing works.

Go to render-> output format -> video ffmpeg and choose format mp4 with h264 codec. That's very common. If you are not sure which resolution and framerate click on the little arrow next to frame rate and choose Get width, height ... from source If the sound should be in a higher bitrate change it to 190 or 256.

Now don't forget to enter file name and directory, entire project or time selection. And it should work.
