Default ALAC files not working on Windows

Hey guys,
I discovered that opening ALAC files in REAPER is not really possible.
I can place it in the timeline, the length is right but there is no peak information and also no audio audible when playing the timeline.
This is only true for the Windows version - on Mac everything works.
So, please fix this as I am using ALAC for my library of CDs.
Also the export function for ALAC would be really great, if possible.

ALAC = Apple Lossless Audio Codec

Try FLAC

I know about FLAC and use it regularly, but ALAC is a must when using iTunes.
As I said, it is working fine on my Mac, so it should also work on my windows pc.

Mac Os High Sierra got built-in support for FLAC files, finally...

The support for ALAC files in Reaper on Mac Os may come from some OS component that is not available on Windows, so it's not that weird if they don't work on Windows. However, considering the source code for the format is indeed open source, there should be no reason for Cockos not to include cross platform support for it.

Alac files are playing fine on Win10. I am on Build 1709. Importing into reaper or just drag and drop works. And there is a MSAlacEncoder.dll in the windows folder. I have no clue, if that helps you .

After also beeing on Windows 10 on one PC here, I can say, that it does not work here. So please, Cockos, fix this for us Windows users with ALAC files lying around. Thanks!

As there seems to be nothing new on the front of ALAC on Windows in REAPER, please make it happen.
I have all my CDs in ALAC (M4A-Container) and can not get them in REAPER, without converting them first. This is not a good option - since it works on my MacBook...
