Default Im a sucker for reverb!!!!

I would really appreciate some feedback regarding this simple bass instrumental.
Is there too much reverb on the track? I persnally like it because I like reverb but it can be overdone and I cant always be objective.
Any other objective criticism would be also appreciated. (besides practicing and having better technique) I just want to make it better!!

Has been fixed...below is the final mix

Thanks Ron L

Well, like you said, it's subjective but, if it were me, I'd take some verb off the bass but not the rest of the mix.

Cool track.

Are you using a bit of predelay on the verb,Ron? You'll keep the punch on the bass but still be able to choose your tail...

Yeah, The 2nd mix definitely sounds a lot better!

That's a cool little groove you have going on there

It's always a good idea to avoid putting rereverb on the bass... Makes the mix sound a lot more focused.

I like the second mix much better- much tighter bass sound.

I would agree with OldG's suggestions re: pre-delay.

Im using an Initial Delay (ReaVerbate) of 61ms..only on the lead bass track. No reverb on the bass backing track

Thanks for all the positive feedback

that's a cool little song you have there, love the vibe. The track just came alive after losing some of the reverb off the bass!

There are actually two bass tracks on both versions. I listened to both versions several times. I like the first mix, but think the reverb slap bass could come down a touch. The second mix works better because the bass is more forward (like a lead instrument), but if you went back to the first one and pulled the volume down a bit it would make the guitar sit in the pocket.

Anyway, loved the groove. Best of luck to you with it!

Thanks for the feedback!!

Here is the final fixed( I hope) version

https://soundcloud.com/ronluka/ouch

I also thought that it might be a bit too loud in the mix!
Also rolled off a bit more low end on the lead bass

Lowered the volume from +1.99 to 0

What do you think?
