can I make video and audio independent from each other?!
Hi ppl!
I used to edit videos in Sony Vegas and there's a option to make an audio from a imported video independent from the video it self... That's useful for example when you want to use the audio from the video but there's a breath noise in some place from the camera man... I want to cut the audio, but not the video.
There's an option to make video and audio independent from each other?!
Thanks! =)

I'm not sure what are you asking. You can't edit videos in REAPER, it is a digital audio workstation. If I recall correctly it will still load the audio if you try to import a video file, though.

Yeah, just duplicate the track, use the video from one, and the audio from the other. You have to turn the audio down all the way, not mute it, to just use the video.

TLreaper,
You can cut video files and render with Reaper. It's audio workstation but a lot of people (like me) works with audio for videos. Sou it's neat that you can see the image in synch to do some jobs. Reaper and Ableton Live do such things, don't know about others.
Import a video and press cmd+shift+v (or go to view/videowindow) to open a pop-up video windows that you can grab to another monitor, for example.
Swamp Ape,
that's cheat do the work, yeah. But not so good for the CPU have 2 video tracks on the way. Would be better if I could make Video and Audio (from the same file) independent from each other. Even because I work with theatre plays, 1h+ of material.

Ah, I didn't know that. Well, doing Track->Render (to stereo/mono) seems to work. Just mute the audio on the video track and then edit the audio-only track that was created.

Nope, Reaper will only process the topmost video track.

Again, you have to turn the volume down, not mute it.

"You can't edit videos in REAPER"
could have fooled me, I've made a few hundred videos with it.
"Nope, Reaper will only process the topmost video track."
also incorrect
Here's a playlist with videos on video production in reaper, produced in reaper.

To answer the Original question
There are several ways to approach this, here's one.
1 - import video, wait for peak file to be built
2 - duplicate video file to second track
3 - top track - right-click video file, choose source properties
4 - in properties window, enable "ignore audio"
5 - select duplicated video, run glue action to make it a wave file.
6 - Group both files.

Welp, my mistake. Never tried to edit videos with it and only saw the audio track being created when importing video files into it, so I figured it doesn't handle the video streams themselves.
