Default MIDI Musical Notation view - inserting pedal down/up marks

Normally I just record a MIDI performance using a MIDI controller with a sustain pedal to get pedal marks into the Reaper Notation view, but when I'm away from that controller and still wanting to tweak a song, I was wondering what the preferred way of adding pedal marks should be.

Currently I'm switching to the Piano Roll view and adding CC 64 127 and CC 64 0 messages, then switching back to the Musical Notation view and dragging the "Ped" and "^" start/end symbols in the score.

Is there maybe a quicker way to do this by some other "insert" method within the Notation view?

Thanks,
CH
