Default Does Reaper work with a Digi002

I have protools but i have not had success getting it tweaked. I am a newbie to recording and was told to download reaper as a smaller program just to get some tracks up. Will it work?

Yes it will work.

Digi's ASIO driver reports bogus latency numbers to the host though, so if you are doing work at a professional quality level you will need to fiddle with manual latency adjustment. For homemade recording, you may not even notice the latency mismatches.

... some stuff on digi ASIO latency reporting here: http://www.cockos.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7321

Do the transport controls on the console version of the Digi002 also function?

No, I think digi hardware uses secret protocols for control surface feedback.

Here is the round trip latency values in Reaper on 002 with a 24/48k session using the Digi ASIO driver:

64 buffer - 307 samples

128 buffer - 458 samples

1024 buffer - 2586 samples

These values are identical when running Pro Tools on the 002.

Hope that helps.

C'mon... it just can't be thaaaat secret! It does send instructions via firewire (using HUI protocol) instead of midi... that's why you can't "tap" the control surface...but when is someone going to "crack" that?
