De-Daw-Daw-Daw
Is it safe to say that better DAWs, like Adobe Audition, use better algorithms for getting rid of noise, ....or compression, limiting, etc., as compared to Audacity, let's say. I tried Audition and everything seemed better, more subtle, smoother or more accurate. Is it an understood assumption that the better DAWs have better methods?

Is there a question or comment in there some where, if you prefer one over the other, use it.

It's safe to say that "better DAWs" is a meaningless statement. A DAW is just doing fancy math.
99 times out of 100, people hearing a difference between two DAWs turn out to be because the DAWs were set up differently.

I suppose with "algorithms" you mean things that you can "activate" and not the stuff that is always running under the hood. Such are "plugins" and not part of the "DAW" itself. They might or might not come bundled with the DAW installation, but you can always find lots of alternatives (free and commercial) that can be added. to close to any DAW.

psycho-somatic would be my guess...
Audacity is free, Audition isn't.
Perceived quality-relating-to-acquisition-cost causes the Sod Principle to operate.

My expensive handheld calculator (39.-€) gives me nicer numbers than the cheap one (2.95€).
So ... I want one of the better DAWS also.

Reaper is not free but one of the less pricey DAWs. Nonetheless in a very wide range of features it's on par or even better than many much more expensive ones. This is very true for the basic infrastructure. It's partly true for the plugins that come with the distribution, but - as said - here you can easily find alternatives.

There's a saying in motorsport circles - "The weakest part on the car is the nut that holds the steering wheel."

Audacity is a freeware open source program done by volunteers. So obviously they don't have the same development resources like a company such as Adobe to dedicate to things like noise reduction.

which was actually done by Syntrillium back in the Cool Edit days before Adobe bought them out to rename it and add to it as Audition.
