remove Record:Disabled option
This alway look like a cobble to me. When Input Monitoring is enabled, what ever Record: Disabled does should be automatically turned on.
So to hear my VSTi while playing my keyboard, I press Input monitor and hear sound.
Same with Audio. when press the Input Monitor I want to pass the sound through. Might not want to Record anything.

Hey xackley - with you on this one.
It doesn't feel "right" to have tracks armed just to get the MIDI coming through if you don't want to record.
Since I started with REAPER i felt that a mode that puts the record light on, but isn't going to record is plain confusing - especially when you have other tracks that *are* armed to record.
It has more to do with monitoring than recording for sure so...

No, the record Arm never lights, you just hear the Input monitoring sounds. The idea is to move the Code out of the REcord button and code the Input Monitor button to work as one would expect.
Press the Input Monitor, hear sound.
Record light never lights, and remains unselected.
When it is time to record, Rec Arm.
The FR thread's title is Remove the Record: Disable Option, (and make the Input Monitor button do it's job without a silly setting to "Record Arm but not really"),

Ok. I was going by the above as you asking that it automatically being turned on. We certainly don't want that... especially with that menu mess there.
I got you. Yup. I erased my wrong conclusion of your FR. Agreed.. just get rid of it all together.

I'll add the other stuff I complained about as a seperate FR.

Holy damn isn't this an old one... and it's still an issue.
I hope we get this kink sorted out, I mean if I right click that record arm button and select "input monitoring" that should enable it right away and not need anything else.
If you have input monitoring on and you record arm the channel, then it just enables recording on top of that. Let's say there's blinking red light when record armed, steady red when input monitoring is on and green or what ever when the state is something else...
Please?

Maybe we are too dumb to follow the jardware recording studio workflow, but I have the same issue. When I play on my keyboard I want to hear my plugins play. Everytime I have fiddle around with the record and monitoring settings. Not intuitive at all for me.
