Deep Space
This is a contemplative, new age-ish, donut type of piece with a piano based cake and a spacey, loose harmonic minor hole. Relaxing and moody, not scary like deep space would probably be. Not for everyone, but some of you will enjoy. https://soundcloud.com/fictionalsubstance/deep-space

I like the bridge from 0:49 to 1:03 and the resolution to a new theme, yeah and from 2:00 it has a kind of oriental touch that I like. Only the drums are too far away, but that´s just me, they could cut more clearly through the mix ?-!
Nice :-)

love the synth? that enters at 1:04.. or more guitar synth? pretty melody! after this, you can really envision just floating in deep, dark, cold space.... nice ambience!
this one's a little darker than most you create, eh? nice change-up. i like the sophisticated melodies you produce on the keys. lovely!

Nice. It has some melodic intervals that bracket the ambient parts nicely. Nice sounds. Well done in general. Only quibble: The couple of drum beats in the first seconds of the recording are puzzling to me as they don't seem to fit in.

That's what drums sound like in space. Seriously, though, after more listening I believe you're right.

The "synth" lead at 1:04 is guitar effects (phaser and delays mostly) not TrippLead this time. Meaningless stuff like this is fun to do now and then while I let other ideas form. Thanks, Mark.

Yeah, they're just a really bad intro. Sometimes I dislike songs just starting cold with the melody. Sometimes not. I just got lazy with that. Probably better without... Thanks for the feedback.

Parallel compression of drums
Hello,
not sure if it´s a good piece of advice, cuz I do not know your genre well, but maybe duplicate drum track and insert a compressor on the duplicated track with hard compression without make up gain! (fast attack) and an eq with boost about +4to+7 dB at 100 Hz and 9 kHz. Finally add the duplicated track to the mix, maybe some other instruments need some dips to make the drums cut through more clearly or drums have too much reverb !-?
