I imagine a "Import/Export package set" feature, which could even be useful to online users. Similar to REAPER's ReaperConfigZip except it would merge the configurations instead of dumbly overwriting files.
You'd install things using PC1's ReaPack, export the package set, import that on PC2's ReaPack (no internet connection required) and the result would be the same as if you'd have just installed those on PC2 directly.

I suppose this would require Reaper to be installed on the internet aware PC. Doable, but IMHO not perfect.

I always end up with 9 errors after I synchronize packages and all 9 say the same thing:

ReaTeam JSFX/Synth/TimeWaster_ReaRack Modular Synth.jsfx v1.1:
Conflict: Effects\ReaTeam JSFX\Synth\ReaRack Modular Synth\TimeWaster_ReaRack Amplifier.jsfx is already owned by another package

Is this normal?

These FXs were initially distributed separately but were later bundled together as a single package. The bundle cannot be installed as long as the separate packages are still there.

To fix this simply uninstall them (they're in Package Browser > Display: Obsolete).
Or try the release candidate of ReaPack v1.1: it has a feature for dealing with obsolete packages when synchronizing and avoiding these errors.

Installing REAPER takes less than 15 seconds, so I see that as a feature (more possible use cases and way easier to make) rather than an issue.

Yes. REAPER calls that "portable install". See this video: http://reaper.fm/videos.php#PlsLEc5cvEM

If you previously updated ReaPack from v1.1rc2 or rc3 then it's a known bug in those two versions (a temporary file was not deleted on Windows/Wine). I fixed that back in rc4 so it shouldn't not happen anymore with future updates.
(You can confirm that by reinstalling it from the Package Browser: if it works then it's good)

Thank you, Sir! Found 20 obsolete. All fixed.

@cfillion: "About" popup windows seem to not remember their position. Would be nice if they did, because on a dual monitor setup here, they always appear right smack in the middle, and a good part of it is not really readable because of bezels, so I have to move them each and every time...

Same happens for download dialog and transaction report dialog. Ideally they should show in the middle of monitor #1.

Thanks!

Good idea, I'll do just that. If I understood you right, you are saying ReaPack's windows are opening right between the monitors? I can reproduce by spanning REAPER's main window over both monitors. I'll improve that as well.

Ah yes - I'm spanning Reaper's window across both monitors, instead of maximizing it to just one monitor. That's when it happens.

There are lots of Reaper's dialogs that behave in the same way and it's frankly annoying...

Unfortunately I don't see any changes in dialog positioning here

(BTW this is happening with Import repositories, Synchronize packages, Manage repositories actions, too - they don't store their last window position and get positioned right smack in the middle of the monitor bezels...)

EDIT: Needed a Reaper restart, it seems. Works now!!

Everything has been working fine for months now with my Reapack. Now all of a sudden, no repos will refresh or connect. I have made no changes, it just simply won't connect to anything.

Please help?

All repos come back with this:

GitHub had a service outage: https://status.github.com/messages/2017-01-13. (kawa's repository was probably the only one to be accessible as it's hosted elsewhere).

ReaPack v1.1

Summary of the main changes since v1.0:
  • Added support for themes, language packs and web browser interfaces
  • New community repositories: ReaTeam/Themes and ReaTeam/LangPacks
  • Every package can have its own rich text documentation in the new unified About window
  • Get notified of obsolete (removed) packages when synchronizing with option to uninstall them
  • Most windows can be resized and columns can be customized (browser & configuration)
  • Simplified setup: all default repositories are enabled on first launch
  • Improved filtering/search options similar to REAPER's syntax
  • Extended support to old macOS versions up to 10.7
  • Many bug fixes and other improvements! (full changelog)
The update can be installed using Extensions > Synchronize packages. Restart REAPER to load the new version.

The website also got an update: a new Repository List page is available at https://reapack.com/repos.

This only is possible when running Reaper as admin

After an unsuccessful try I fetched the dll manually and put it into the directory. The previous version had gone, supposedly because I tried to upgrade by starting reaper as Admin).

After saving the dll and starting reaper reaPack is accessible but seemingly all settings are gone. I re-entered the Proxy setting, which seemingly did work.

But When trying to synchronize anything I get "unable to open database file".

It should not require admin rights (normally the resource folder is user-writable). To fix the database error, make sure your user account has read/write access to reapack.ini and registry.db. I guess running it as admin messed up with the permissions.

If you got this message when trying to update, it was most likely caused by a temporary file left over by v1.1rc2 or rc3 (sorry – from rc4 onward it's deleted on startup as it should be).

Yep. I got this message and as I am aware of the rights problems, I sarted Reaper as admin. This seems to have messed up things even more. In fact I could not install the new version, as the DLL had gone and the extension menu was gone.

I moved the DLL from the website in the user extensions folder. Now the extension could be started, but it could not read the database.

The .ini is directly in REAPER's resource folder and the .db is in the "ReaPack" subdirectory. Yes you can simply delete the files along with the "ReaPack" folder to start all over (it will forget what it previously installed). Make a backup before just in case.

I tried what you described on my Windows 10 machine, but here I can't get it to break by simply running as admin and updating.
(To be exact, the original update problem wasn't a permission issue so starting as admin would not have helped.)

I deleted the reapack.ini file and the reapack directory, but now when starting Reaper i get the message I get the message

"ReaPack could not register itself ! Please report this issue.
Error description: unable to open database file. "

Reported !

(Obviously it's not easy for Windows software to run as non-admin behind a firewall using a proxy to connect.)

When then trying to synchronize, I get
"The following error occurred while creating a transaction:
unable to open database file.

In fact the ReaPack directory ad the reapack.db file is still not existing.

Restoring the directory and content does not help: same error message.

That sounds serious. I'm going to continue assuming it really is a permission issue (since it worked before running as admin and I don't have a better explanation for the symptoms).

Can the REAPER process even write into the resource folder at all? Test by tweaking a REAPER setting and checking if it remembered the change on the next startup.
I get the same error as you if I deny write access to non-admin in that directory's properties (I'll look later if I can obtain a more detailed error message from sqlite – "unable to open database file" is quite vague).

If all fails, try in a new portable installation and compare with the broken one. Unfortunately I'm not familiar enough with Windows to help much further than that (maybe someone else can)...

EDIT: Try this script:
Code:
path = reaper.GetResourcePath() .. "\\test"
file, error = io.open(path, 'w')
if file then
  reaper.ShowConsoleMsg(string.format("successfully created %s\n", path))
else
  reaper.ShowConsoleMsg(string.format("failure: %s\n", error))
end

I rechecked on a "standard" PC where I run everything with admin rights.

Here upgrading the dll via the ReaPack menu does not work, either.

I'll try to move the DLL... works.

I have an issue ReaPack just disappeared from Reaper. All ReaPack actions and all scripts are gone from the action list. Although i didn't touch the directory and reapack.ini and all .xml files are intact.
Should i reinstall it? But i guess all hotkeys will have to be reassigned, since these will be treated as new scripts.

upd. i've downloaded .dylib file, replaced it in Reaper/userplugins. Reaper crashed on the first initialization and now crashes anytime i try to run ReaPack actions. :/
Tried to install it on the portable pre-release version - same problem.

Thanks so much for developing this! I already can't live without it

I've already installed all packages and looking for more *greedily* ;0)

If one wants to see all the repositories available (including say for example Kawas repos): Where are you supposed to look? Would this be a good place?:
https://github.com/ReaTeam/ReaScripts
(under: Other ReaPack compatible repositories (not included in ReaPack)

This could be a another feature: I.e. that new repos popup in the ReaPack extension. But don't mind me. This is amazing!!!! :0)

Cheers,
Loopa

@loopa
Indeed, the readme of the ReaTeam repo is what we used for that.
Also, the reapack website.
