Default Reaper and Asio4all

Hello,

I am new to reaper, evaluating it.
I come from Ableton Live 9 LE.
I'm using an old Line6 UX1.

I have some problems achieving the same recording quality with reaper compared to Live.

With Live, my latency is lowest when using the asio4all drivers, something around 10 ms.

With reaper, i cannot achieve this low latency using the asio4all driver, moreover i have some "cracks and pops" issues when using it. I need to use the Line6 drivers but I am not able to achieve the latency I have with Live, it is greater.

Any advices ? I like Reaper and had the idea to switch to it but with this issue I'm starting reconsidering Live...

Cheers.

What are the current settings (sample rate, buffer size, etc.) in the Audio Preferences of Live and Reaper when using the same driver (either Line 6 ASIO or ASIO4ALL) in both DAWs?

Have you already checked the Line 6 webpage for the latest available UX1 ASIO drivers?
General troubleshooting hints for ASIO4ALL can be found here: https://www.image-line.com/support/F...s_asio4all.htm

Thanks for your reply.

I was using 128 samples at 44.1 kHz.
In Live 9 Lite, latency around 10 ms.
In Reaper, latency around 16 ms but some cracks...

Finally, I ended up buying a new soundcard (I needed one with MIDI).
Steinberg UR22 mk2...excellent with reaper and the Yamaha drivers. 4 to 5 ms of latency and very stable.

Very happy with this new set up...I'm thinking of buying REAPER which is very easy to handle.

Why can't you use wasapi instead of asio?

Default AISO

It's always been a good match for me using the factory supplied AISO drivers for my audio device rather than AISO4ALL. I've had nothing but problems with AISO4ALL but no problems ever using the AISO drivers from Presonus. (I'm using Presonus audio boxes). So i'd say the same for all audio devices. Best to go with factory and leave AISO4ALL alone.
