It might be a bit “post” for much of REAPER’s user base though...

Thanks for the info, yeah this is mainly to enable media explorer searching to provide the same results as basehead. Though, obviously the other functionality would clearly be useful.

As to the userbase, reaper is rapidly becoming the industry standard for game development, so any additional push in that area is good for the future of the program. In my opinion at least.

Any reason why WavPack files didn't get metadata support?

What's the method to embed ID3 CHAPTER markers in an mp3 file?

I've tried several settings but neither WaveLab, VLC player nor REAPER itself recognize them which makes me assume they're not embedded.

Other metadata, such as Artist, Album, namely those which are set directly in the metadata window do get embedded.

If you add project markers called CHAP= with the name of the chapters, for example

CHAP1=This is the first chapter
CHAP2=This is the second chapter

Then the chapter data should be embedded. REAPER won't actually display the chapters, although if you open the media source properties you should be able to see that there is chapter data embedded.

Thank you. Unfortunately i've been unsuccessful. Please take a minute to watch the movie (click to view full size if required)

The marker should read "CHAP=TEST", not "CHAP1=TEST". The chapters will be automatically numbered.

The latest development builds will display the embedded mp3 chapter data in the media explorer and arrange view. We could maybe add support for manually numbered chapters, I'll take a look.

[edit] actually the mp3 chapter tag encoding doesn't support chapter numbers as a separate field from the chapter name.

schwa I was trying that this morning in v6.12 and couldn't find any player that could show the chapters. Itunes, vlc, windows media player.

In reaper markers
CHAP=part 1
CHAP=part 2

KID3 showed chapters as CHAP1, CHAP2 (no titles)

reaper source properties show chapter meta exists.
