Default Size/length limits for videos?

I'm making a long instructional video, about 20-30 minutes long. Fairly high-res, probably 1080x720. Lots of subtitles and image overlays. Is there any limit to the size/length of a video that Reaper can process? My 2010 macbook pro can render short videos at about 1x.

I've rendered 75+ minute 1080p videos from Reaper. Took a while - my PC (i7, Win 10) renders at about half-speed (I don't have a GPU card - just stock on-board video)

No limit to the length that I've ever run into.

might look weird with that ratio

1280 x 720 or 1920 x 1080 are standard HD

I have rendered 4 hr videos in Reaper without any problems. Especially if using ffmpeg encoding, then there definitely is no limit other than physical file size because ffmpeg definitely doesnt have a limit. I have reaper projects which are over 80 hours in length with many hundred items on many tracks. Reaper seems to be unbreakable...

However garageband has (or, had) some whacky limit like 20 mins or something.

Perhaps one render output problem could be the 4Gig or 8Gig file size boundary imposed by the file system (especially SD Card) which most digital cameras will obey, for example. To get around this, theres hacky workarounds like Panasonic saves large video in a big container directory structure (AVCHD) which has individual <4 GB files inside because they use SD Card.

So use a modern file system on your drive and it should be fine.

68 years, according to my tests.

After that, Reaper crashes.
