VST TAL-Vocoder
Anyone have any luck with this? I've tried everything but can't seem
to get it to work with live vocal input using the internal oscillator.
Any suggestions apreeshed.

I tried it briefly some days ago and had no problem. I believe I made a new track with the vocoder as a plugin and created some midi items on that track to test it. Next I routed the audiotrack to the vocoder track. I believe I routed the audio track 1/2 to the vocoder track 1/2 and removed the audiotracks routing to the master(to avoid hearing the dry signal ofcourse).

Thanks for calling my attention to this--I love all their plugs and I am looking for a vocoder.

Yeah it does seem cool from the demo sounds. But I still can't figure
out the routing to hear live vocal input using the internal oscillator.
I've been trying to understand routing but this seems to be the one area
that makes my brain want to explode.

Just from looking at the thing, it seems that if you had this on a track where your input was from your vocal mic, it would do the vocoding thing with its internal oscillors. You would not want the input mode button engaged in that case.

That's what I thought, too, but I get nothing. Am I screwy for thinking
that I should just be able to add it as an effect to my vocal track hear
it do it's thing?

Yeah,it's a little weird--it's more or less like a synth plug that you'd drop into a track with a vocal on it already.
Make sure you have a midi input that is meaningful on the vocoder track, and that you have record enabled and monitoring on. Then it works great.
Out of all the vocoder plugs I've tried this is probably my favorite. Those TAL guys are great.

Don't forget you need the MIDI notes to actually hear anything.

You can also add a send from a midi-track to the vocal track with the Vocoder plugin.
Then you hear the midi-notes/chords played by the vocoded vocal.

Conversely, it works great vocoding live--put it on a track like any other midi synth, and route audio from your mic track to it.

Michael, this may be 12 years later, but your post was the one that helped me get it working!
