Lennon's Inconsequential Latin Affair
Touch of old skool with my mate Graham Exton from Jolly ol' (I mean, where else with that name?)
https://app.box.com/s/w34fiym3nphh052q53crezrg29jkpakp
Graham Exton: acoustic guitars and fretless.
Me: all else. Keys (Lounge Lizard) played with my guitar again via JamO.
I have the original guitar (centered) playing along side its keys counterpart (right) in the very last verse.

Psychadelia plus funk? Hard to label this one! Harmony vocals are effective (10cc influence?)
Fun listen, thanks.

Funk? Definitely 10cc/Beatles influence on this one. Great, enjoyed it a lot

Yeah, took to the keys myself - and the arrangement overall. It all sits very well together. Will give it another spin with the cans.

ha! closest I could even touch Stevie.
@Jorgen
I can't stand midi editing from scratch, bad patience. So Jam Origin to the rescue. It picks up the notes pretty well straight out the box (if using ASIO) with only minimum need to patch up notes afterwards. thx Jorg.

This was really fun.
There is this really great coordination of the bass guitar, keys on the left and whatever is on the right (during the section around 0:54). Really great composition.

Very good production/arrangement - maybe one of your best. The changes are original - so was Lennon's from time to time. Jam origin? I have to check that out. I had a Supertramp feeling about those keys, rather than Mr Wonder. But then I've listened a lot to The Logical Song, lately. Always loved that one.

that sound was one of Lounge Liz's buit-in sound presets, but the origin was a wurly morphed into...whatever I turned it into. hah

yeah, fairly dead lately, but I've heard a few gems. Have I ever heard a pure Morgon composition?

JO's updated to version II now which is even better than the not-bad first version. Kindafishy turned me on to it. Demo's fully functional. I got that SuperT feel by staccato plucking the guitar chords with my fingers (as opposed to strumming) I had to "think like a keyboardist."

It took me a few seconds to get that. I esp hear the 10cc on "...that old familiar waaaay". Wasn't intentional, but when they were brought up, I completely heard it.

Gah! Sammy, tell me when you post a song. I don't get to be around as much as I used to.
Love the "won't get fooled again" patch (I think it's called a "patch", lol). Nice use of JamOrigin throughout this tune! Do you have the newest version?
This mix sounds really good. The nicely locked in playing and sweeping, mellow groove are very infectious.
Nice ambiance to everything. I especially dig the vocal verb. Thinking about the ambiance, however, brings me to my only nit. I think the noodling guitar that starts around 2:02 would really benefit from flirting with the same trippy sensation the rest of the mix elements are in bed with.
That is the only thing that stuck out to me. I know how meticulous you are, so if you just like it drier, then it's just a subjective thing, but I think there is room to still maintain that contrast, but meld with everything else a little more.
Sweet.

the 'patch' is just a basic e.piano sound. I played the "Who" style by plucking the guitar chords with my the tips of my fingers (as opposed to strumming or using a pick), using my thumb for the bass notes.
Yes, the acoustic could fit better in the same space, I suppose. It wasn't a purposeful thing.
I like the mix except for Graham's bass (tone, not playing). I don't recall what brand of fretless he used, but I couldn't get it to work for nothing. I just did "good enough" and left it alone after the patience wore off.
The upgrade was nothing, so yes, I have version 2. Every bit better just as JO says. They actually lived up to the hype.
Thanks.
