Render Path Incorrect
I can't find a way to get Reaper to remember the default path. How to save this to my project templates please ? It keeps coming up with F:\____studio projects\_mixes and putting test template in the filename.

Ah, looking a second time I think I now understand what you are asking. I think Render settings are not tied to project defaults. Render usually assumes the last path used. What I do is click browse the first time I render and the third choice in the list = the project directory (I think) then it remembers until I switch to another project.
Let's see what others say since there may be another way I'm unaware of.

I have been experimenting with this Render to File dialog and I don't get it. The very fine manual didn't clear it up for me either. On the top right there is a presets button. Pressing that I pick "All Settings" and save a preset called "default" after setting everything in the dialog the way I want it.
It doesn't seem to matter if I click the "Save Changes and Close" button at the bottom or not because when I close the dialog and reopen it, it now has "Last Render Settings" selected in the Presets instead of "default" in the "All Settings" area.
It is giving me what I want now though I don't understand the gui.
So 3 questions are open to me.............
What is the difference between a preset and ""Save Changes and Close" ?
Are these settings global or project specific ?
Why is the dialog changing to "Last Render Settings" ?

If I fill out the correct destination (Directory)
for my render on a project the version I am using of Reaper
stays with that until I physically change the destination.
I give the file a name.

The last preset you chose IS the last render-setting. So Reaper is doing, what you told it to do.
But I guess, this is confusing, if you've changed nothing after that and think, the preset isn't selected anymore.
You can have a look into the reaper-render.ini, which stores all the render-presets. Maybe you can find something helpful in there.
BTW: is this behavior already in place for some time or did it happen somewhere in the last updates?

Since I only changed the preset and had not rendered I didn't expect it to have already changed to last render-setting. I think it's been this way forever but I still find it confusing.

So even if you change the render-preset, and you close the dialog using save and open the dialog again, the settings from the render-preset aren't there anymore at all?
This is really quite odd. I may have a look into that. Maybe I can find something about that(and could document the reaper-render.ini in the same process )

Everything is being remembered fine now. I think there is just a non-intuitive behavior happening.
What is the difference between a preset and ""Save Changes and Close" ? Did the preset not save the current changes ?
Are these settings global or project specific ?
Why is the dialog changing to "Last Render Settings" even if I didn't render anything but simply changed saved a preset?

The latter just saves the current settings.

Thanks. Since they are per project, this makes sense.
