24gb memory now, and Reaper x64 crashes
I installed an extra 12 gigs of ram so now im at 24. i have an X58 MB, and a i7920 CPU. My OS is Windows 7 x64 Professional which handles up to 192gb. Is reaper 64bit known to be quirky with 24gb of ram?
Here is what i was doing, watching a omnisphere quicktime tutorial, paused it, then opened reaper x64, inserted Omnisphere with just stereo out. Then about5 min later Reaper crashed when i clicked a function on Omnisphere.
This has happened 3 times since installing the new Ram, nothing else is crashing. Maybe the Settings in Omnisphere have to be adjust with this much memory...idk?

Did Omnisphere run alright when you did this with just the old ram?
I would pull out the old ram & just leave the new ram in and run it. If you are still getting crashes I would place the new ram in the old ram slots. If you are still getting crashes I would suspect the ram.
Long way around, I know, but if that is the only thing that has changed.....

Successfully ran reaper x64 for an hour or more, all i did was close quicktime, rebooted. and kept reaper and omnisphere as the one application open.

Great news!
And I figured that you had added the new sticks with the old, that is why I mention removing them.
I had a similar problem when I upgraded this system & found out I had 1 bad new stick, so back they went. The replacements have been working fine for months now...

any of you guys know how to disable the hotkey shortcuts? especially the transport controls play button. Everytime i hit the spacebar in omnisphere when typing a sentence in the search field, i get no space between words and reaper starts playback.

I too have 24GBs of which 23GBs are usuable as the motherboard and chipset need some footprint or something from what the MSI x58 manual says.
I noticed 12GB's was great and I had CL8 settings and 1.65v.
The jump to 24GBs was finnicky as hell until I undervolted the DRAM setting in the BIOS to 1.5v.
This did slow down my 930 from 3.8GHz to 3.4GHz, but I only use Kontakt and all other synths are Analog Hardware and DSP.
Omnisphere is finnicky but not near as finnicky as 24GBs of RAM at speeds higher than 1333MHz or 1.5v.
Just my experiences though, but I use this DAW 6 nights a week to perform and play all day long after Jr goes to school.
