I like Twitter. The posts are short and move relatively fast. I follow a lot of painters, photographers, and poets, so there's always something interesting to see or read. I've also met a lot of cool people I would not have met any other way -- other musicians, sound designers, bloggers, radio show hosts. It's easy to block and mute people if they get obnoxious. It may not be for everyone, but it's been really beneficial for me. I'm a hermit, essentially, so ...

Added ya

I'm @mikethemental

Another many years old account I have with no followers lol

I really dont understand social media

How do you get thousands of followers if you are, as you say, a hermit?

I guess its because ive done no research on it and am not actually active, i just sort of register accounts and let them sit there until i have something i feel would be meaningful to put there but the problem is then when I post stuff nobody reads it

I've never figured out social media but i think its because i dont have the time either

I'm pretty fucked at this point, even if i were to make great music nobody would hear it because i just cant figure out how to get followers and im not gonna spend all day commenting on stuff just hoping whoever reads it will click on my profile and hit follow

This whole social media paradigm has me feeeling incredibly lost and depressed

Future Fields, in order for social media to be meaningful / valuable, you have to put some time in. Follow DSP software developers, other musicians, artists, people who inspire or interest you. See who follows them. Engage in conversation. Listen to music. Let other musicians, writers, artists, etc. know when their work moves you. Without interaction nothing meaningful will ever happen on social media.

You know, this is the thing.

Everyone is doing the internet wrong.

Through the internet I've had conversations and interactions with my favorite authors, musicians, recording engineers, an astronaut, my favorite photographer, various politicians, famous movie stars, race car drivers, presidential candidate(s), ..... when I was a little kid my perspective was that there was another "world" that wouldn't intersect with mine. With the internet it has.

Having said that, on Twitter I'm allegedly a Russian bot, so you don't want to follow me.

I suffer from verbal and typing diarrhea... two hundred and fifty HOW many???

I sort of get it I guess I just dont understand how people find the time.

Between my day job, making music, and times that I just want to clear my thoughts I honestly cant find much time to dedicate to this social media thing. I keep up with friends and family on Facebook but thats about all have time for.
