Microsoft Visual C+++ Runtime Error
Hi,
I use Reaper for playback running 15 tracks simultaneously. There are about 34 plugins, including 9 SIR2 comvolution. For comparisons, I need to open 9 tabs with different settings. However, whenever I opened the 9th tab, i get the Runtime error that I mentioned in the title.
This error seemed related to the number of tracks in each tab. If I have more tracks in a tab, then I can only open less tabs. I suspect this is related to total number of tracks that can be uploaded in Reaper at any one time. Is there a way to overcome the error.
PC i7 runs at less then 30% and RAM never exceeded 50% of the 8GB.
Any help is much appreciated.
Thank you
ST

Are you running the 32 or 64 bit version of Reaper ?

I am running 32 bit Reaper in 64 bit Windows10 pro. I decided to stick to 32 bit because on of the most important VST plugin is only available in 32bit.

32-bit plug-ins will run in 64-bit Reaper (and vice versa). Just select the bridge / hosting module when you install Reaper.

Thank you, Dark Star. I will try your suggestion. Do i have to create my project all over again or just import those saved under the 32 bit version? Sorry if this question sounds silly. I am not familiar with DAW. Just using it to configure crosstalk cancellation and convolution to create a virtual space. I know nothing more than that.

Nope, you should be able to just load it into Reaper 64-bit.
NB in your VST paths list put the 32-bit paths before any 64-bit paths. Then any duplicates will use the latest one (i.e the 64-bit plug-ins supersede their 32-bit versions)

32 bit Reaper can only utilize less than 4 GB RAM.
https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=34860
So when you say "never exceeded 50% of the 8GB" seems to me you may be getting close / stepping across this border and the cause for the crash might be running of out RAM.
I'd also suggest using Reaper 64 bit instead to overcome this.

Probably since memory fragmentation lowers that 4GB limit by a good 10-20%.

I just reinstalled JRiver and Reaper in 64bit and it is working great! Thank you so much guys. Thank you Dark Star.
I think I could have made a mistake with the RAM. It is currently running at 86% of the 8GB RAM.
And one more question. I am using ReaRoute to connect JRiver(MediaPlayer) to Reaper. I read in the forum that ReWire is a better option. However, I do not see Rewire in the JRiver devices. Can I say Rewire is not compatible with JRiver?
Thanks again.
p.s. After I close the browser, the RAM went to 62%. So I think it was at the edge of 4GB as nofish mentioned.

Rewire needs to be implemented by both applications involved. Both applications also have to have the same CPU architecture (32/64 bit in this case).
It seems unlikely something like JRiver would have an implementation of Rewire, but you might want to check that, though. (Maybe it's an optional installation, needs to be enabled in its preferences etc.)

It is very unlikely. I could see ReaRouter in the settings but not Rewire. The only reason I am still using JRiver is die to the ability to organize my albums and do realtime downsample or upsample my files to 24/96.
I am fully satisfied now. I could even double up the tabs.
Once again, thank you so much.
